- This point probably doesn't need to be stated, but the backrooms are full of secrets. The backrooms, however, can frequently offer secrets compounded within secrets, some of which may be hiding things you might prefer not to find, much like a Russian doll. We rejoin Trish in Level 4 once more with this unsettling fact in mind. Trish was an American soldier serving in Afghanistan at the time she and her squad were no clipped into the backrooms unintentionally. Sadly, since then, the Backrooms have waged a terrible attrition war against Trish's life, health, and sanity. Naturally, Trish had already been through a lot by this point, but the evil forces of the Backrooms were just getting started.
- The sadistic and unstoppable Barnaby Bun of Barnaby Bun's Fun Emporium and the rotting, ambulatory corpses lurking in the terrifying basement level were just a few of the horrors she had already encountered in the enigmatic levels of the backrooms. Trish felt somewhat relieved to be back on Level 4, where she knew she would be safe as long as she avoided the windows. Trish, who despite losing her guns still had a soldier's heart, wasn't content to simply survive. She wished to leave and start a new life. However, after being tricked by doors, windows, elevators, and even by breaking through the floorboards numerous times, she realized that she needed to try a different strategy for fleeing.
- Trish was fortunate to have Die Hard as her all-time favorite movie, so she chose to channel John McClane in order to escape this situation. She decided to exit through the air vents. Because of her broad physique, even the ducts in this location appeared to be large enough for her to crawl through without difficulty. She had one weapon left, a combat knife she kept fastened to her belt, which she could use to open a new possible exit. Trish simply grabbed a desk nearby and pushed it under a vent on the top half of a wall because Level 4, the abandoned office, had plenty of unused office supplies. She was able to use her knife as a makeshift screwdriver while balancing on the desk, gradually removing the rivets holding the grate in place until she was able to remove it without causing any long-term harm.
- She had discovered that it was best to keep a low profile and be quiet inside. Being cautious not to move too quickly, she lifted herself into the vent and started to crawl through. As the air swirled with antiquated dust, she made an effort to hold back a coughing fit. Whatever the case, she persisted until she discovered the entry point into something else. These things weren't always as pristine and stainless as they appeared in the movies, were they? And fortunately for her—or unfortunately for her, depending on your perspective—she quickly discovered what she was looking for. It only required dropping down below and unscrewing another vent grate.
- Welcome to Area 1A of the Insulation, the most recent enigmatic level. The level is indeed that kind. We advise going with the flow. As you may have noticed, this level is referred to as "The Insulation" because a large portion of it is made up of fluffy, pink fiberglass attic insulation, the kind that is good for the environment and will help you save a lot of money on your heating bill each month. You're wasting your money if your house or apartment isn't properly insulated. Let's be real. Putting that aside, Trish briefly considered the possibility that she was now imprisoned in a strange world made of cotton candy because, well, who knows in the backrooms? However, she quickly realized that attic insulation made more sense and started to investigate.
- All things considered, Area 1A had decent lighting, making it at least as welcoming as Level 4. Additionally, thanks to all that wonderful, money-saving attic insulation, it was warm and cozy, which is always a plus? The only drawback so far has been how small and strangely insulated this new world was; Trish frequently had to hug the walls in order to pass. The air didn't feel as stale as it probably should for such an old, small place, despite the endless amounts of fluffy insulation and worn-out wooden scaffolding holding it all together. But hey, she was getting used to it; nothing ever seemed to make sense here. The twisting halls of wood and insulation seemed to grow larger and more elaborate as she continued to walk through them.
- She started to wonder where exactly she was in relation to the rest of the world. Trish concluded that it probably wasn't helpful to ruminate on these kinds of ideas. Was this some sort of impossibly large alien structure? Was this an underground base? Had she really been transported into an entirely different alien dimension, where everything exists on a spectrum between utterly bizarre and incredibly hostile? Was any of this even real, or was it all just a delusion created by a fractured mind? She was probably dooming herself to a stress-induced nervous breakdown if she didn't assess her current situation as accurately as she could and make active situational decisions on a case-by-case basis.
- It was also not a good idea to become catatonic in a strange world full of dangerous monsters. But before long, this strangely calming part of the Insulation would end, and Trish would probably regret not savoring it more while it lasted. Trish found herself suddenly wandering into a location that appeared darker and more industrial, with no obvious point of delineation. Pink attic insulation was still prevalent, but it was broken up by wires and pipes that protruded from the ground and through the walls, giving the space a more foreboding appearance. Area 1B is the name of this particular zone, which is still a part of the overall insulation level.
- If you are in this area, you can be sure that worse things are going to happen. Trish, however, had no reason to be aware of that at the time, did she? She was blissfully ignorant of the being she would be meeting very soon. Instead, she continued to move forward as her eyes grew accustomed to the new environment's darkness.
