An offer you can't Refuse!

Final chapter

By Karan w. Published about a year ago 7 min read

Liam was startled; his nervousness could be felt in every breath he took. Fear was visible in his eyes.

Suddenly, without any warning, both police officers took steps toward him. One twisted his arms behind his back, while the other pushed him hard to the ground and pinned him down.

He screamed in pain. Before he could react, handcuffs were placed on his wrists. A black cloth was tied over his mouth, and the two officers shoved him into their car. Liam kept repeating the same thing over and over, "I am innocent! I'm being framed!" But neither of the officers seemed to care about his words.

They drove the car at high speed, leaving the desolate and eerie place behind.

After nearly two hours of torturous and terrifying travel, Liam was dragged out of the car.

Liam pleaded with them to remove the black cloth from his mouth as he was struggling to breathe.

But as soon as the cloth was removed, Liam shouted, "This isn't the police station! I've been to a police station before. Where have you taken me? Who are you people? Please let me go home! My cats must be hungry! I haven’t done anything wrong! Please..."

But none of his questions were answered. They dragged him roughly into a strange and equally desolate building.

The place resembled a police station—it had lock-ups, and everyone present was dressed in police uniforms.

Is this real? Or is my terrified mind showing me false images? What is happening?" Liam thought to himself. "A police station in this deserted forest?"

Suddenly, he was taken into a dark room. Compared to the outside, this room was eerily quiet. There was only a large bench and two chairs inside. Liam was forced to sit down on one of the chairs with a loud thud.

In front of him sat an old, unattractive police officer. The officer had sharp, thick mustaches and a face worn down by time and hardship. Deep wrinkles spread across his face like cracks in dried mud.

The old officer spoke slowly, "Mr. Liam Carter, you are under arrest for the murder of your ex-girlfriend, Lisa O’Connor. Do you have anything to say in your defense?"

Liam's mind swirled with questions—questions about this strange police station, the mysterious female interviewer, and the company he had applied to as a creative strategist, which had brought the most dangerous changes in his life.

But the officer’s calm and composed demeanor forced Liam to answer only the question he was asked.

"I didn’t kill Lisa. I haven’t even seen her for the past four months," Liam said.

The old officer gave a faint smile and replied, "Listen carefully.

"You had a fierce argument with your ex-girlfriend four months ago because she cost you your job at the company where you both worked. You even threatened to kill her.

"We have substantial evidence against you. The same slow poison, Nerium Oleander, that killed your ex-girlfriend and the iron rod used to crush her skull afterward were both found in your apartment.

"The bouquet coated with poison that you sent to Lisa O’Connor’s house was recovered from her home. The flowers in that bouquet match the ones we found at the spot where you were arrested. And perhaps it’s the same toxic flower that injured your finger.

"We also found the design of that flower on your laptop, likely created by you. Furthermore, we have the receipt for the bouquet you ordered a week ago.

"And you were caught red-handed while disposing of Lisa O'Connor's body at that desolate spot. There is no room for doubt—you are guilty of murdering Lisa O’Connor."

-

Hearing the officer's strong arguments and irrefutable facts, Liam’s head spun. He realized he had been framed terribly. He had no solid arguments, evidence, or witnesses to prove his innocence.

But he kept pleading, "This is all a lie! I never ordered any bouquets! What receipt? I know nothing about this slow poison. I hated Lisa because she cost me my dream job, but I didn’t kill her! I am innocent! I’m being framed! I didn’t kill anyone! Please believe me!"

The strange wound on Liam’s finger, caused by touching the toxic flower, had now turned blue. He began to feel restless, his breathing slowed, and he felt like he was gradually losing consciousness.

Indeed, he had become a victim of the same slow poison that killed his ex-girlfriend, Lisa. Darkness enveloped his vision, and he realized he was nearing his inevitable death.

Just then the sound of a car engine echoed in his ears. He also heard the light rustling of someone's footsteps. He guessed with his half-damaged brain, "Surely someone has come here. Perhaps an expert doctor has been called for me." He muttered to himself in a semi-conscious state.

"Is everything going well?" "Where is he, I want to meet him." A familiar voice echoed in Liam's ears. "This made him frown, he was completely stunned," he had never felt a bigger shock in his life. Now it seemed as if a new flow of energy had started inside him. Liam raised his head, "and started waiting to see if the same person would enter this room now. " Which he expected.

Just then a person enters the room. He looked very calm; he was thin, his hair was long and curly, and his eyes were brown.

As soon as he came, he brought a satisfied smile on his face and said to Liam, "How are you, my dear brother? You have become very thin? You should take care of your health."

Liam was looking at that person with his half-open eyes in surprise; it was Lorenzo Carter. "His elder brother.

"I am going to die in a few moments, "and I don't think you will be sad about my death. That's why I don't think you care about me at all. Because I can feel, "that you are the mastermind of my destruction and possible death." He said groaning with pain in his trembling voice."

"Lorenzo laughed a little at this, "You guessed it right, you are not that stupid." Mr. dumbo

"But you were sentenced to twenty-seven years in prison for the murder of Uncle Felix." "You still had to spend twenty more years in prison. Did they reduce your sentence because of your good behavior in prison?" Liam asked him in surprise.

"You're still an idiot. I thought you would have become smarter, "but I was wrong. Do you think I behaved well there?" A guy who could cut his uncle's neck and bring his brother so close to death? "You expect good behavior from him, you stupid boy?" Lorenzo said laughing cruelly.

"So you're a smart criminal who escaped from prison. "But what is your motive? What do you want to do?" Liam asked.

"Oh my god, I thought you would have understood by now." "But never mind," I'll explain it to you in detail.

Listen!" My dear brother......

"Didn't you doubt your girlfriend when she fought with you for no reason and got you fired from her uncle's company? This was the beginning of the end of your life.

"Then you applied for that mysterious creative strategist job." By the way, your cover letter was amazing. Then you got the job so quickly based on just one question in the interview. "And the way you answered that question, "Memes! I liked that too. This way I didn't have to work hard to trap you. Thank you very much.

"And your first and last day of the job. Is there any place like this to work on the first day of a job? It is a deserted, dilapidated, and scary house, which even stray dogs stay away from. You were stupid to touch that poisonous flower. Otherwise, you could have died a peaceful death. "Without suffering much." There, you were caught red-handed, hiding the dead body of your ex-girlfriend. "Lorenzo started laughing loudly now."

"You should not tell me everything, I still consider you a sensible boy. Even though mom gave you the title of Dumbo. You will understand. My dear brother," I hope.

But yes, let me tell you this, no one was with you in this game. Everyone was against you. "Your girlfriend was also cheating on you." So she got punished for it.

"You must be surprised too, "Why did I create this drama of the police and you get arrested? You know, brother, "how much I loved this game in my childhood. I hope," this time, you enjoyed this game the most with me.

"And yes, I thank God," he gave the same faces to both of us brothers. Now the police will be here in a short while, "the real police brother," he said laughing. "And they will think you are dead; I mean, they will think me dead. After that, I hope, "they will never search for me.

"But, my dear brother, I am so sorry you are going to die in such a painful state
But I hope you will not have to suffer this pain for long; soon, you will go to heaven wrapped in a peaceful aura and sleep peacefully in the lap of our mother. I know you have not slept for the last few days brother.
For the last time... Goodbye my dear brother, please forgive me if you can. This is my compulsion. I had to do this to free myself and relieve you from suffering. I had no other way. Goodbye...

Liam did not respond to anything his elder brother said because he had lost consciousness. His pulse was nearly gone, and his heartbeat was barely functioning. However, he was still alive.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moments later, Lorenzo left the place with his gang. The police, acting on a tip-off sent by Lorenzo himself, raided the location. There, they found only the dead body of "Liam Carter," also known as Lorenzo Carter.

A/N:- Hello, my wishers; this is the last chapter of "An Offer You Can't Refuse". It was so much fun; it was the product of the creative mind of Maryam, who made it possible for a story to be created by four different minds. And it worked. Thank you for that, Dear

If you haven't read the first three chapters then do read them, they are awesome.

First, by Komal

The second one by, Maryam Batool

The Third one is by, Rowan Finley

These chapters were something to read and kept you on your toes so to speak. Great work on them.

  • Whoaaaa, I love how you tied it all up together with the flower and the nickname Dumbo. Also, the way Lorenzo killed Liam because they both look alike so that it would look like Lorenzo who died, that reminded me of the movie "A Simple Favour". Loved your story so much!

This was incredible!! I loved how you took everything in the previous chapters and tied them all together like a nice little Christmas gift! It was such an intriguing plot twist as well to see the fake police and Liam’s brother be behind it all. Also I kinda made the mistake of reading this first, not knowing there were other chapters from different creators. It’s still amazing though! Well done!

I agree with Maryam. This story is crazy. The ending where we find out that his brother was the real mastermind behind all the happenings... It gives chills. You made a great ending to it... Excellent 👍✨

Wait a minute!! I'm screaming rn! 🙉🤐🤯 I am so thrilled, Omg! I can't believe how you wrapped it up... Jaw-drop... Mic-drop... Idk what to say. All those clues that the fake police found... I mean they were perfectly framed for innocent Liam. The poisonous flower? Perfection served hot! And when he was about to die... The familiar sound? His Brother... At this point literally, my jaw dropped. How? How could you make it seem so real? I was wondering ... Ok, now we know how it all connects... He framed his brother... But why? Hell no! Twins? You crushed the story... He killed him to save himself... All that wasn't 'Evil spirits' but Lorenzo himself. You literally connected every single step and part of your story... I really want all of my friends to read it. I already read them 1st to parts... but now I would tell them to feel the same thrill by reading it themselves. Hey, now don't you dare say 'Ohh It's not that good or etc', or I'll come snatch your hair. 😆😉 I'm sorry I can't tell you how much I loved the story; I'll read it to my grandsons when I get old, to scare them😂 The ending was perfect! I want a movie on this one... Should we contact Netflix? 😃
