Answer: There is some uncertainty about the origins of Valentine's Day. While some people think it came from ancient Roman festivities, others think it has something to do with St Valentine, a priest who was executed on February 14.

‌The story of Valentine's Day is linked to a third-century priest named Valentine who performed secret marriages, and the Roman fertility festival Lupercalia.

‌ Valentine defied the emperor's orders and secretly married couples to spare the husbands from war. It is for this reason that his feast day is associated with love. Formal messages, or valentines, appeared in the 1500s, and by the late 1700s commercially printed cards were being used.

‌ During the Middle Ages, it was commonly believed in France and England that February 14 was the beginning of birds' mating season,

‌ Centuries later it's said that he was elevated to the altars which drove Pope Gelasio I in the year 494 to declare the 14th of February, on the day of his torture, the official day of Saint Valentine.

‌ Valentine was beaten to death with clubs, and then beheaded on February 14.

‌ That's why we celebrate Valentine's Day when we do — because that was the day this Roman priest was violently put to death (and he was eventually given sainthood). Of course, that story doesn't completely explain why the day of St.

‌ Valentine's Day quotes. "You are the sunshine that brightens up my day and the stars that light up my night." "I love you more with every beat of my heart." "You are my forever Valentine, my soulmate, and my everything.

‌ The ancient Romans may also be responsible for the name of our modern day of love. Emperor Claudius II executed two men — both named Valentine — on Feb. 14 of different years in the third century. Their martyrdom was honored by the Catholic Church with the celebration of St. Valentine's Day.

‌ Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate love and affection, and is celebrated by sending gifts, cards, and messages to loved ones. It's also a commercial holiday that boosts sales for businesses like florists and chocolate makers.

‌ Many historians suggest that the ancient Romans are responsible for our modern Valentine's Day because Emperor Claudius II executed two men – both happened to be named Valentine – on February 14th of different years in the 3rd century.

‌ Saint Valentine (Italian: San Valentino; Latin: Valentinus) was a 3rd-century Roman saint, commemorated in Western Christianity on February 14 and in Eastern Orthodoxy on July

‌ The story of Saint Valentine is associated with a number of legends and traditions. The day of February 14th is celebrated as Valentine's Day in Western Christianity to commemorate the saint.

‌ Gently press your lips against his and softly kiss him. Massage his lips between yours. Start with his bottom lip and then move to his top one.

‌ You're not just my Valentine, you're my always and forever!" "Loving you is the easiest and best decision I've ever made!" "Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite. Happy Valentine's Day.

‌ Many British bloggers and online critics described Valentine's Day as "an American copycat version of Love Actually", focusing on how Valentine's Day, like Love Actually, has an all-star cast whose characters' storylines intertwine with one another.
