Officers in northeastern Australia were dumbfounded when they coincidentally found what might be the biggest frog on record, tipping the scales at almost 6 pounds.

Named "Toadzilla" by the officers, the 2.7-kilogram (5.9-pound) land and water proficient was found in Conway Public Park in Queensland last week when park authorities were directing track work, the state's Division of Climate and Science said via virtual entertainment.

In a tweet on Thursday, the office said officers "were stunned to find a beast stick frog."

Officer Kylee Dim said group went over the mammoth animal when she left their vehicle as they halted to allow a snake to crawl across the track.

"I arrived at down and snatched the stick frog and couldn't really accept that how large and weighty it was," Dark said in a proclamation from the office on Friday.

"We named it Toadzilla," Dark said, adding that they worked rapidly to eliminate it from the wild in light of the fact that a stick frog of its size will eat "anything it can squeeze into its mouth."

Accepted to be female, as they regularly become bigger than their male partners, the frog was returned to the officers' base, where she was gauged. Officers say Toadzilla could establish another standard.

The ongoing Guinness World Record for the biggest frog was set in 1991 by Prinsen, a pet frog in Sweden, which gauged a heavy 2.65 kg (5.13 lb).

Toadzilla has since been "euthanised because of the ecological harm they cause," the division included its tweet.
