1. The Quran's Clear Statement

The most direct evidence comes from the Quran itself, where it explicitly mentions that Prophet Mohammed is the last prophet. In Surah Al-Ahzab (33:40), it states: "Mohammed is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets."

For Muslims, this verse is the most straightforward declaration of Prophet Mohammed's role as the final messenger. It establishes that no other prophets will come after him, sealing the line of prophethood.

2. The Miracle of the Quran

Muslims regard the Quran as the ultimate miracle, a book that stands apart from any other scripture. Unlike previous texts, which were often altered or lost over time, the Quran has remained intact and unchanged for over 1,400 years. Its linguistic beauty, scientific accuracy, and the depth of its message are viewed as proof that it could only be from God. Since it was revealed to Prophet Mohammed as the final and complete message for humanity, there's no need for another prophet to come with a new revelation.

3. References in Earlier Scriptures

It’s fascinating that references to Prophet Mohammed's coming are believed to be found in earlier religious texts, such as the Torah and the Bible. For instance, Deuteronomy 18:18 mentions, "I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brethren." Muslims interpret this to mean that God was foretelling the arrival of a prophet from the line of Ishmael, the brother of Isaac, and therefore from the "brethren" of the Israelites. This, they believe, points directly to Prophet Mohammed.

4. A Universal Message

One of the defining aspects of Prophet Mohammed's mission is that his message was intended for all of humanity, not just a specific tribe, community, or region. The Quran addresses all people with phrases like "O mankind," and emphasizes that Prophet Mohammed was sent as a "mercy to the worlds." Unlike prophets who came before him with messages for specific communities, the universal nature of Mohammed's message implies that it was meant to be the final guidance for all of humanity.

5. The Farewell Sermon

In his final pilgrimage in 632 CE, Prophet Mohammed delivered his famous Farewell Sermon to over 100,000 followers. During this momentous occasion, he declared that he had completed his mission and conveyed God's message fully. He urged those present to spread his teachings to others who were not there, almost as if passing the torch to future generations. His words were clear and direct, emphasizing that no prophet would come after him and that he had left behind the Quran and his example (Sunnah) as a complete guide for life.

6. Fulfillment of His Prophecies

Throughout his life, Prophet Mohammed made numerous predictions about events that were to occur in the future, many of which came true with astonishing accuracy. For example, he foretold the conquest of Persia and the Byzantine Empire by the Muslims, events that happened after his death. Such fulfilled prophecies reinforce the belief that he was indeed divinely inspired and chosen as the last prophet.

7. The Transformation of Arabia

One of the most remarkable aspects of Prophet Mohammed's life is how, within a span of just 23 years, he transformed the entire Arabian Peninsula. Before his mission, Arabia was a land mired in tribal conflicts, idol worship, and social injustices. By the time of his death, the region had become united under the banner of Islam, embracing values of equality, justice, and compassion. This dramatic change, driven solely by his message, is seen as a sign that his prophethood was truly divinely guided and final.

8. The Preservation of His Teachings

Unlike many previous prophets whose teachings were altered or lost over time, the sayings and actions of Prophet Mohammed have been meticulously preserved through Hadith literature. This meticulous preservation has ensured that his teachings remain accessible and authentic for Muslims all over the world, reinforcing the idea that no further prophet is needed. His life serves as a complete example of how to live in accordance with God's will.

9. The Global Spread of Islam

Islam's rapid and widespread expansion shortly after Prophet Mohammed's death is another proof for many believers that he was indeed the final messenger. Within a few decades, the message of Islam spread far beyond the Arabian Peninsula, reaching Africa, Asia, and parts of Europe. Today, Islam is one of the fastest-growing religions in the world, which Muslims view as a testament to the enduring and universal nature of the final message brought by the last prophet.

10. The Concept of 'Khatam An-Nabiyyin' (Seal of the Prophets)

Lastly, the term "Khatam an-Nabiyyin," meaning "Seal of the Prophets," is a concept deeply rooted in Islamic theology. Scholars throughout Islamic history have interpreted this to mean that Prophet Mohammed’s role as a prophet is definitive and conclusive. This belief is further reinforced by the fact that no legitimate prophet has appeared since his time, and Muslims believe that none will in the future.
