Mysterious king

king is addicted for hunting

By Sazid HasanPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

Many years ago, there was a king who had a passion for horseback hunting. One evening, while riding his horse, he realized that he had become separated from his servants. Calling out for them yielded no response, and he found himself alone in the forest. It was at this moment that a witch, disguised as an old woman, appeared before the king.

Noticing the king riding towards the castle, the witch's daughter cast a spell on the king's six sons, transforming them into swans. Ignorant of the fact that one of the king's children, his youngest daughter, remained inside the castle, they flew away into the depths of the forest. Deeply distraught, the king decided to venture through the forest to check on his children's well-being.

Upon reaching the castle, the king was devastated to find only his youngest daughter remaining. She explained to her father how her brothers were turned into swans and flew away into the forest. The king even saw the swans through a window and collected feathers that fell from their wings as proof.

Realizing the tragic truth, the king sat down in front of the castle, filled with sorrow and contemplating his daughter's well-being. Meanwhile, the young girl was gripped with fear, feeling vulnerable and incomplete without her brothers. In the darkness of the night, she embarked on a journey towards the part of the forest where her brothers had flown.

As dusk approached, the young girl discovered a burnt house within the forest. Quiety entering the house, she found six small beds. Not long after, the sound of wings woke her from her slumber, and to her astonishment, she witnessed six swans land outside the window. After a brief moment, the swans shed their feathers and transformed back into her brothers. Overwhelmed with joy, the young girl wept as she pleaded with her brothers to find a way to break the spell.

Their grandfather, also under the enchantment, disclosed the only method of release: the young princess must remain silent and refrain from smiling for six years, all while weaving six small dresses made of white grass for her brothers. If, during this time, she were to utter a single word or laugh, the process would reset, and she would have to start again.

Leaving the burnt house behind, the princess returned to the forest. There, beneath a great tree, she began fashioning dresses out of white grass. Determined to complete the task, she vowed not to speak or smile until she had finished all six dresses for her brothers. In the passing years, the princess grew into a beautiful woman.

One day, as the king of a neighboring kingdom was hunting in the forest, he and his hunting party discovered the princess near the tree. Intrigued, the king inquired about her identity, but she, still bound by her vow of silence, could only nod in response. Despite his curiosity, the king found her silence impressive and decided to bring her to his court.

The princess, adorned in her royal attire, captivated the king with her beauty. He believed her to be a suitable match for him and declared her his queen. However, the king's cunning and mischievous mother had an ulterior motive. After the princess gave birth to her first child, the queen's mother conspired to steal the baby and falsely accused the princess of infanticide.

Condemned to death by burning at the stake, the princess maintained her silence. As she was being prepared for execution, she brought the six completed dresses with her. Gazing at the sky, she awaited the arrival of her brothers.

In a remarkable turn of events, just as the fire was about to be ignited, the six swans swooped down and brushed their wings against the dresses on the princess's shoulders. Instantly, their feathers fell away, revealing six handsome princes. The king was astonished by this sight.

At his command, the queen's execution was halted, and she revealed the truth to the king. The princess's grandfathers, also liberated from the spell, regained their original forms, bringing an end to their long and sorrowful ordeal. From that moment forward, the king, queen, and their six brothers lived happily in their kingdom.
