A Woman of the Plains. Top Story - July 2023.
The year is 1750 and I am a Paskwaiwiyiniwak woman living on the banks of the Kisiskaciwani-sipi river in the area referred to as Alberta during the 21st century. They call us the Ndooheenou people, a nation of hunters, for we are a nomadic people, following the migration patterns of the wild animals and birds in this area. As nomads we do not have specific occupations. Survival dictates that everyone, in the tribe, is capable of doing whatever task is needed in the moment. We work as a team, not as individuals. The only division is that between men and women. The men are typically the hunters who supply us with meat and the warriors who keep us safe from predators as well as the other tribes who inhabit this area: the siksikartsitapi in particular, who would wipe us out in a moment, if ever given the chance. The men are also responsible for making the tools we use to survive, from stone, wood and bone. The white man, with the convenience of metal, has yet to arrive in our area.

The man who fell in LOVE with himself.
You care more about yourself than anyone else. You feel a little skeptical about your magnificence you're certain that you are prettier more brilliant and more beguiling than others. You're really amazing. You are the only person in the mirror that you adore. Congratulations, you probably suffer from narcissism. The term for this unusual mental condition first appeared in antiquity. The fascinating character's name was Narcissus, according to Greek mythology. You can learn from his story that having too much self-love can lead to too many problems. Before we get into the reasons why people act narcissistically, let's examine the myth. As a result, narcissist tales come in a variety of flavors. He was the child of two legendary animals. A fortune teller told his parents when he was born that their son would live until he saw himself, so they wisely removed all mirrors and reflective objects from the house. Narcissus was an attractive young fellow. Narcissists didn't like anyone, but local nymphs and girls admired his beauty and were in love with him. He liked to walk through the forest, eat fruit, and listen to the birds sing. One day, an Echo nymph saw him walking among the flowers and trees. She immediately fell in love with him. She told him about her feelings after some time, but Narcissus turned her down. Echo's heartbroken. She fled and concealed herself deep within the forest. She died because she was so sad and couldn't drink or eat. Her voice was the only thing that was left after her. It echoed through the trees and bushes, and Nemesis heard it. Nemesis was furious that Narcissus had rejected the nymph. She chose to rebuff him so Adversary made him go gaga for himself. On one occasion narcissus saw his appearance in the lake and couldn't take his eyes off. Because he didn't drink or eat anything during that time, he looked at himself in love for many weeks before his life ended. Narcissus vanished yet abandoned a lovely blossom close to the lake. This flower was given the name he gave it. Now, the nymph Echo was punished by Hera in another version for a Zeus-related act. Since Hera made it impossible for her to speak normally, she could only repeat what she heard from that point on. She would have responded that it was either a bird or a dinosaur if you had asked her that question. Yes, that could become irritating Echo hid in a dark cave because she did not want to live with such a curse. She made the decision to remain there until her death. She noticed a narcissus walking by after a little while. As soon as the nymph fell in love with the young man, she found a new meaning in life. The question now is how to admit her feelings. Echo decided to seek assistance from the forest because she was unable to communicate normally with him. She had a few wizardry capacities that permitted her to control creatures and trees. She utilized birds and leaves of trees to some way or another talk about her thoughts with Narcissus. The young man was aware of the nymph's feelings for him right away, but he refused without hesitation. He was too focused on himself and didn't want to share that with anyone else, or perhaps he didn't even like anyone. It's possible that he was seeking an ideal of beauty that could not be found in nature. The already sad Echo became even more depressed. She began to weep when she returned to her cave. She was unable to eat or drink. She made the decision to remain here indefinitely. Echo pleaded with Nemesis to restore justice and punish Narcissus for his arrogance in the final days. Adversary denied him of the chance to adore another person and constrained him to cherish just himself and afterward one hot day narcissus went to the lake to chill off. He briefly bent down to drink water and saw the reflection. At that point the prophetess' words materialized. Narcissus couldn't stop staring at the Pod surface because he was so awestruck by his beauty. He was so consumed that he avoided eating or drinking. The water was before him yet he didn't extinguish his thirst in light of the fact that the magnificence wasn't letting him go. Narcissus bowed down so low that he fell into the water and uh at absolutely no point ever surfaced in the future. The fairies of the timberland couldn't track down him. There were a lot of grieving women. A wonderful bloom with white petals showed up on the Stream Shore .they named it after the attractive young fellow. While the fairies grieved him on Earth narcissus was in the Hidden world and even there he was unable to quit respecting himself . Narcissus was doomed to stare at his reflection in the Styx River for the rest of his life; it was like he was in a trance. He was hypnotized by this self-love. The Everlasting look and his appearance made him limitlessly troubled and blissful simultaneously. Because people dislike narcissistic personalities, such a character is hard to sympathize with, but another version of the well-known legend provides justification for the young man's actions. In one of his books about Greece, a well-known Greek geographer wrote that Narcissus had beautiful twin sisters. She passed away on a terrible day, and they looked like two drops of water. Anguish made's narcissus extremely upset however at that point he saw his appearance and couldn't take his eyes off it yet not on the grounds that he experienced passionate feelings for himself but rather in light of the fact that his face helped him to remember his sister. He gave himself a look because he didn't want to leave her again. These are legends that provide us with a precise portrayal of a particular kind of individual's character all egomaniacs generally contemplate their prosperity ,Magnificence, Excellence and some ideal love with ideal people. They're certain they're interesting and better than others they need to discuss just with those with a similar elevated degree of uniqueness. Egotists live in a dreamland about their significance. People who love themselves have nothing wrong with it, but there are times when this love becomes excessive. Narcissists are difficult to be in a relationship with because they only care about themselves and lack empathy. They can't peruse others' sentiments. You're crying subsequent to watching a miserable film yet an egomaniac is unfit for grasping your feelings. However, despite these negative traits, narcissists are very charming people. It's always fun to be around them, and they know how to get your attention and laugh. In the event that an individual loves himself, he becomes appealing to other people. Presently don't imagine that egotists have complex person since they're bad individuals and they like it. Such a character develops throughout the long term yet everything begins at an early age. Envision that your folks Commendation You from the day of your introduction to the world just for your accomplishments and appearance. Did you win the competition to swim? Great! Did you pass the test? Perfect! You're so attractive! Your parents tell you that if you work hard, you'll be a good doctor, firefighter, or lawyer. Yet, shouldn't something be said about your inward State. Your sentiments. You won't be able to appreciate it in others if no one sees it in you. You'll focus just to your prevalence and a feeling of progress on the grounds that your folks cherished you just for this. In the end, you will also appreciate these qualities in others. Narcissists will pay attention to you if you're as popular, successful, and fantastic as they are. Maybe the fanciful guardians of the narcissus character respected his Magnificence such a lot of that they overlooked the ethical development of their child. To avoid developing an internal emotional void, every person requires the support of inner emotions and states. People who are narcissistic try to fill it with feelings of admiration and praise, but love can't be replaced, so many narcissists suffer inside. Fortunately, narcissism can be eliminated with the help of modern psychology advances. The doctor tries to help the patient deal with the emotions and feelings they had in the past. They attempt to find the reasons that made them an egotist it's a long and complex treatment yet it is really compelling. It's hard to get someone who admires themselves to go through it. If they consent to therapy, they acknowledge that something is wrong with them, which can be a difficult test for those who overvalue themselves.
