CONTROVERSY BETWEEN CANADA AND INDIA
India has expelled a senior Canadian Diplomat as relations between the two countries worsen over allegations by the Canadians that Indian agents might have been involved in the murder of a Canadian Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Najar was shot dead outside a temple in British Columbia less than three years after he was designated a terrorist by India. In order to comprehend this occurrence, it is important to have a glimpse of how the two great countries started their relationship. Historically, India and Canada have been in a notable and apparent relationship over the years. The relationship is said to be diplomatic which could historically be traced back to over 8 solid decades during the time India gained her independence from the British rule in 1947. During this period, Canada was known (apparently recognized) for being one of the first countries to recognize India sovereignty after her independent by action. This relationship proceeded and got stronger such that the countries shared common values such as democracy and multiculturalism. However, has fate would have it, history has it that during the cold war, India faced some challenges which prompted alliance she formulated with a non aligned foreign policy which led to the distinction between the two countries. In recent time, the relationship surge again as a result of economic cooperation which the two countries have no choice but to reconcile cause of promoting their economy development at global level. Over time trade and investment have grown significantly in these great countries as a result of their economic collaboration over the years. In recent decade, there is a significant improvement in educational and cultural aspect as a result of the two countries collaboration. Despite the diplomatic tension, these countries still dialogue and cooperate on diverse international issues such as climate change, Quality education and counterterrorism which has led their relationship to be dynamic and diverse. Coming back to the issue, a statement from the Indian foreign Ministry described the allegations they've been behind his death as absurd and motivated earlier. The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told Parliament he'd raised the issue with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi at the recent G20 Summit over the past number of weeks Canadian security agencies have been actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the government of India and the killing of a Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh nijar.
