Pingtan, China, the closest place to Taiwan

By Rufus FreirePublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Pingtan has a long history and many scenic spots. In the old county annals of Pingtan published in 1922, there are records of Pingtan's "ten ancient sights". They are all over Arashi Island, such as "Junshan Chasing Clouds", "Chongtai Chasing the Sun", "Xianjing Roaring Waves" and so on. Where are these fascinating "ten ancient sceneries" today?

This issue focuses on the "ten ancient sceneries" of Pingtan. In the relevant materials provided by the Pingtan Strange Rocks and Rocks Conservation Association in the ancient poems of literati and inkmen, we will trace their traces and show their old appearance and new appearance.

Poetic Scenery "Ten Ancient Scenes" Unveiled

Open the "Pingtan County Chronicles" edited by Wu Jintai, an expert on Pingtan folk culture, and a series of "ten ancient sceneries" of Pingtan vividly pop out of the paper.

According to data records, there was a saying of "Ten Scenic Spots" in Pingtan in ancient times. Its ten scenes are: "Junshan inserting clouds", "Chongtai watching the sun", "Xianjing roaring waves", "Pianwa fairy trail", "Eight formation stone camp", "Half ocean stone sail", "Wooden monkey exploring water", "Beauty looking in the mirror" "" "Moonlight on Shagang", "Scent of Lotus on Stone Wall" and so on. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Bagong Shi Tianzhang compiled the "General Catalog of Scenic Spots", adding "Daozhang Ancient Rock", "Xiaolianyizhai", "Zhongmen Stone Newborn", "Tiyun Stone Step", "Old Lady Lonely Stone", "Wangmu Shuangjiao" and "Three Reefs". "Sixteen Foot Lake", "Nine Pine Book House" and so on are "Twenty-Six Views". Some of the above thirty-six landscapes no longer exist due to the passage of time, or due to long-term wind and rain erosion and man-made damage.

Surrounded by mountains, there is a peak towering in the middle, and the sky is pierced above, and the clouds are often unable to form. This is the beautiful scene of "junshan piercing the clouds". "Junshan Chayun" is one of the "Ten Ancient Views" of Pingtan, which is composed of the landform landscape Junshan and the non-geomorphic natural cloud scene. Today, the highest point of Junshan, the top of Jiayun Peak, is within the wall of the building area on the top of the mountain, and the general style still remains. During the year, the scene of "junshan piercing the clouds" often appears, and it is famous far and wide.

"Where do you fly to Xiuyi? It's dense and straight among the trees and waves. The clouds, the sky, the sky, the rippling mist, the day and the night. Who will be the obstacle when the ravines are facing down? A long cry wants to ride the wind. Tourists don't believe in Penglai Island. Jiangdong is more east.” At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Bagong Shi Tianzhang also fixed the strange scene of “junshan piercing the clouds” in a famous poem, which is fascinating.

It is understood that Shi Tianzhang was intelligent since he was a child, and his literary talents were quite outstanding. He was highly appreciated by the villagers. He was selected for Bagong at the age of eighteen. An important reference material for County Chronicles. He only loves to climb Junshan, and composed many Qilu poems for it, which are widely spread.

Lin Shuzhen, a talented woman of the Qing Dynasty, also wrote landscape poems for the "Ten Ancient Views" of Pingtan. Many descendants who knew her often wrote "Three Shifan Quatrains" through her. One: They talked about the emperor's boat in the previous dynasty, and Shuangfan took advantage of this sentence to keep it. It is expected that due to the turbulent times and dangers, one mooring will not be collected today; second: the double sails are full of ancient and modern winds, and the stone carvings are the total chemical industry of the boat. For 120,000 years, crossing the same place, crossing the sun and the moon, turning west and east; the third: Qianxun towering in the great river, establishing the art of remote knowledge of good fortune. Who says that there is no mainstay in the last stream, and that the obstacles can be seen in all directions.

Lai Min, an expert on Pingtan folk culture, once commented that "Three Shifan Quatrains" is "the most vivid and wonderful poem written about the scenery of Shipaiyang" he has ever seen. "Living in a prosperous village, facing the wonders of stone sails, touching eyes and vivid emotions, poetic thoughts fly away, and the eternal masterpiece will be born in time." Mr. A Can, a writer in Pingtan, is also quite emotional about this: "If you don't read Lin Shuzhen The three quatrains left by the predecessors are not enough to say that they have understood Banyang Shifan, Pingtan, and the spiritual endowment of the Haitan ethnic group."
