She and her brother's name did not ring a bell until much later. Nearly one week after cleaning out my bank account to buy a used car, I looked at the signature on the back of the title before sending it through protocol and read "Salassie." The guy selling me the vehicke had gone back to where he was staying to get a signature put to the document for transferral into my name, and this was what he brought me. Gabrie-Salassie signed to the seller's line. It was a name I had not heard for decades. Daniel Salassie and his sister, Belainesh, were here in town with an aunt, the person who signed the car title. It was enough to cause recall of days long gone. The days of my childhood where a black community fantacized of black kings and kingdoms. They chastised others who "acted like they were the Queen of Sheba" or "thought they were high and mighty" when all they need do was pay attention to what was evolving around them.
The 1960's unfolded from the 1950's restructuring of economies. The advent of UNITED NATIONS and delegation of Goodwill to all peoples sent what was supposed to have been assistance to far and distant governments such as Ethiopia where a black king... Haile Selassie of Ethiopia was seeking to improve the structure of his "kingdom" with input from Jamaica. Structuring washed into development of a Rastafarian society and "ganja weed" which was intended for major economic growth that could support the nation of Ethiopia with the help of a Goodwill Ambassador... or so it was thought. Ganja was determined to be a drug... marijuana. Marijuana became a bust riddled with incarcerations and gang wars for those delving into business of marketing or manufacturing the crop. When it fell those pushing it's predominence fell as well. The King was eventually assassinated, the Goodwill Ambassador who assisted with establishing the market of ganja disappeared and the general public suffered in their homes and in back alley windows where hawkers scrambled to move nickle bags and dime bags cut with whatever they could find. The family of the King was left to defend themselves... wives, children and slaves. Of the children born to the King, only one son was mentioned although he held several wives. It was from those children and the competition at holding a place in the realm of respect for the name they bore from whichever mother they had sprung forth from... a place that could cost the importance of their future of existence if not their very life.
On being RASTAFARIAN/ Are Rastafarians Israelites? For all history reference, they are. They are EXCEPT THAT caucasian Hebrews (Jews) do not accept them as such. Their skin denounces their true being. A true Jew is caucasian complexion, heritage and ethnicity. There are no "mutations." That being said, who are they? The 2021 attempt to move into and blend in with the new Israel population failed and found the darker skintones ordered to live outside of populous communities. They were not accepted in their Black Hebrew existence.
IT IS SAID by BBC.CO. United Kingdom regarding religions/rastafari and beliefs... that Rastafarians regard themselves as the genuine Israelites. They believe they have been persecuted by white people and the form of this punishment is their subordinate position as the slaves of whites.Oct 21, 2009 and What is the connection between Rastafarianism and Ethiopia?
Rastafarians regard Haile Selassie I as God because Marcus Garvey's prophecy - "Look to Africa where a black king shall be crowned, he shall be the Redeemer" - was swiftly followed by the ascension of Haile Selassie as Emperor of Ethiopia. Haile Selassie I is regarded by Rastafarians as the God of the Black race."
On being a member of family in state
On surviving as a member of a family name
What if those could regain some level of political position these many decades after those of my age and era first read of Ethiopian issues of survival in history and social studies textbooks. Since the 1960s, Ethiopia has seen continued extreme struggles for food and economic stability. It has been their sporadic "fate" as some have claimed. It is a seemingly unshakeable travesty of that nation. What if, by immersion of an outside entity under supervision by its parent corporation food and/or economic production? Mentioning this brings to mind the often touted failures due to LOST OPPORTUNITY... oversight of a "best timing" moment for enhancement of self or entity. Not by invasion or manipulation but by some co-operative intervention beneficial to each participant, the growth of a nation of people could become the reality. Perhaps with the increase of investments made toward and in technology for agriculture and communication, it can and will be accomplished.
