A Frenchman wept as German soldiers marched into Paris on June 14, 194

Never again. That's what they said. Never again. The greatest generation to have ever lived died for nothing. Throughout our lives, we have heard those two words:

Never again.

We have been taught the horrors of the past and the sacrifices they made for us. From weekly rations to civilian boats at Dunkirk, we have heard their stories, understood their pain, and admired their strength.

In fear of it happening again, we made sure to never forget their sacrifices and the millions of lives that were lost to evil, and yet here we are.

We fixated too much on the past, romanticised it even, to the point where nostalgia for a past we never lived, has ensured its repetition. As a direct consequence of this, we have failed our ancestors. We have failed those who never saw the liberation, and the ones who died fighting while doing so.

How have we let evil like this rise again? When such a heavy price has already been paid? Are we not ashamed of ourselves?

Never again... until again.

So, where do we go from here? What will you do?

Will you bend under the weight of the darkness that is consuming our world? Or will you stand up and fight for a better version of it?

Because here's the secret: the greatest generation to have ever lived lives within us. They are a part of us, our very being. Everything we are and have, we owe it to them for our freedom.

These dark times we have allowed to happen. As we sit at home in front of the world, watching it all unfold. Laughing at memes, making sarcastic remarks, pretending like it will not affect us.

Like some violent tempest far away on the horizon, slowly creeping towards us, but we choose to ignore the warning signs, because I've a 12-hour shift tomorrow to cover part of my rent at a shared house.

And while the pieces of the chessboard move around us, we, as the people, must set aside our differences and make amends to come together to defeat our common enemy. Only then will we hold all the playing cards.

This is not about which side of the political spectrum you stand, which flag you fly or what god you worship. This is about humanity and what is morally right.

Once we pull back the curtain and the grand illusion breaks, our new world will be built by healers, builders, protectors and nurturers. Not men in business suits constructing dodgy deals in the shadows.

Be wary of the lion, tigers and bears.

This is not love and light. This is war. And we are in it now as we speak. And just like our ancestors, I will spit in the faces of those in servitude to false idols and dance on the graves of those who dared think they had such an authority to play the game of God.

I will never surrender to the darkness, even if it beats me to within an inch of my life. I understand that this is far bigger than ego and self-worth. Faith and nationalities. Far, far bigger.

I beg you to remember this: when fear consumes you, laugh. For Christ's sake, laugh, dance, sing. These days will pass, but until then:

Protect all children, defend your homes, nurture your communities and build together.

Death to fascism. Death to all neo-nazis. Death to dictators and tyrants.

Free the world!
