Wild - A Movie Review
'Wild' is an inspiring film for anyone who is having a difficult time. We are not alone.

Change is possible. Learn to forgive yourself. Take an adventure to reflect.
Wild is a 2014 film based on the true adventure that Cheryl Strayed took on the one thousand mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail. On a mission to seek closure from bad memories, Cheryl is in for the adventure of a lifetime to find closure.
For anyone who needs a film to help remind them that they are not alone in the world, Wild is an uplifting film. I have watched this film twice. It is relatable on so many many levels. Life never goes the way you expect it to. However, it all depends on the way you look at the world.
Reese Witherspoon unearths one of the most powerful performances in her career as Cheryl Strayed. She is incredible at achieving a variety of ranges. All actors need to challenge themselves from the usual genre of films to see what they are capable of.
Wild was an intense film, emotionally and physically. For the film, Witherspoon reached into her emotions to manifest a young woman who has never had it easy. And she achieved walking for countless miles, climbing huge boulders, and crossing rivers.
Cheryl Strayed teaches audiences that no matter what happens we can pick ourselves up again. Sometimes we just have to escape reality and take an adventure. Cheryl’s confidence is a trait to admire. After some devastating tragedies, Cheryl loses herself. Her inspiring journey across the P.T. trail is a bold life-changing journey that tested her to reflect.
No matter how small your part is, everyone in Wild obtains a memorable performance. Laura Dern’s incredible spirit is an admirable performance. Other credits to include are Thomas Sadoski, Keena McRae, Michiel Huisman, W. Earl Brown, Gaby Hoffmann, Kevin Rankin, and many more. There is even an appearance by Bobbi Strayed Lindstrom, the real-life daughter of Cheryl.
You never know who you will meet. We meet people for a reason. By meeting people we understand that everyone has a story. There are moments in life that we are not proud of. These moments don’t define us. We only become stronger by moving on, accepting, and telling our stories.
Nobody knows what is going on in anybody’s mind. Wild is powerfully edited to solidify what Cheryl is thinking about. The more the film trails into memories from Cheryl’s past, the viewers understand her personality and why she is doing this. Memories are hard. Whether they are good or bad, memories help us understand why particular events happened.
Wild is a challenging film. It is sad. It is relatable. Having lost a family member to cancer, I agree that it is tough to pick up the pieces and move on. The first time I watched this movie, I felt a sense of closure. Nobody is ever alone to face battles.
Jean-Marc Vallee’s direction sparked outstanding genuineness. The cinematography, editing, and direction of actors were undertaken in a thoughtful mindset. However, the movie was too long in some parts. I felt like a little too many tragedies were portrayed but Vallee powerfully conducted an emotional film.
It doesn’t matter what we have gone through in life. Everyone has problems. But we can’t let our problems control us. Only you can change you. Wild is an inspiring film for anyone who is having a difficult time. Be thankful for yourself, family, and the journey ahead.
I have to warn you that Wild is a tough film to watch at times. The subject matter may be triggering for some audiences. Otherwise, Wild is a film that you need to witness.
