Wicked for Good is a nonsensical term being marketed to our youth in a Disney film

Hollywood once again is blurring the lines between what is acceptable and what is not.

Wicked For Good Does Not Compute

In John Milton's poem Paradise Lost, Satan states, "Evil Be Thou My Good." This lets us know that good and evil are polar opposites. Whenever serial killers are discussed, the words evil and wicked are used to describe them. Why then is Disney blurring the lines with the new film Wicked For Good?

In every area of society until now, it has been understood that these words have opposing meanings. The dictionary defines good as what is morally acceptable and evil as wicked and morally wrong. Wicked is defined in the dictionary as evil and what is not morally accepted.

When The Wizard of Oz aired in 1939, everyone knew that the Wicked Witch of the West was evil and Glinda the Good Witch had morals. When the witch from the west was melting, she said Dorothy had destroyed her "beautiful wickedness." This does not compute.

Wicked and good should not be contronyms

Even as a child, I understood that the witch had stinking thinking because I learned the same values at home, church, and school. She was bad and evil. To imply that being wicked can be viewed as good is a contronym or contradiction, and in my opinion, very wrong.

"When Universal Pictures released Wicked in 2024, I told my daughter they were blurring the lines by trying to gain sympathy for the Wicked Witch. Now Disney has taken things to an entirely different level.

The major religions, Mormonism, Christianity, Muslim, and Judaism, agree there is a difference between good, which represents God, and that which is evil or wicked, which represents Satan.

Proverbs 4:19, "The way of the wicked is like the darkest gloom; they do not know at what they stumble".

These two words have been polar incompatible all of my life, and now our children are being taught they are the same. Now Disney has taken things a step further with the film Wicked for Good.

Marketing wickedness to our children

I was taught that goodness is a virtue like kindness and patience. Wickedness should never be desired. This is why I was stunned to see a television commercial with products aimed at teen girls called Wicked For Good. There are cosmetics and other items that our young people will be wearing that send a dangerous message.

Surah-An-Nur (Quran) Wicked women are for wicked men, and wicked men are for wicked women. And virtuous women are for virtuous men, and virtuous men are for virtuous women.

According to the Bible in Genesis chapter 2 there was a tree of knowledge of good and evil, making these terms separate and opposite.

Alma 41:10 in the Book of Mormon states that Wickedness cannot be happiness.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I can't help but wonder if there is some type of agenda to get our young people to no longer have a moral compass for what is morally acceptable and what should be detested. If wickedness can be described as good, what words do you use to explain a pedophile or serial killer?

Wicked For Good is nonsensical

Good and evil cannot be equal. Respond ˹to evil˺ with what is best, then the one you are in a feud with will be like a close friend. Fussilat 41:34 (Islam)

"It's only a movie, some might say," but young people often imitate what they see on film. The question is why would anyone want to confuse our youth by implying that evil and good are synonymous?

Lines are being blurred, and with fewer children attending houses of worship where they might obtain spiritual knowledge, they have nothing with which to combat what Hollywood produces.

Malachi 3:18: Then shall you return and discern between the righteous and the wicked between him that serves God and him that serves not."

Wickedness is associated with Satan, rebellion, and not following the laws of the Creator. Society has gone from fleeing wickedness to embracing it. Is it any wonder that young people today are so confused about everything? There is nothing good or righteous about wickedness. Wickedness for Good is nonsensical-impractical, and ridiculous.
