When life gives you lemons
... just "envision" a new life.
Remember how you first felt watching The Truman show?
You knew something was off. It was all just a little too perfect, a little too scripted. Sure enough, “scripted” was the perfect way to describe that movie. Poor Truman was playing a role in a faux-reality show from the time of his birth. No – before birth! Cameras had even found their way inside the womb with him!
As he grew before his worldwide audience, everything was seemingly picture-perfect. However, behind the scenes, he was a prisoner of the Director. Our beloved protagonist was a captor, quarantined behind the fourth wall for the viewing pleasure of millions.
As he became more aware of the sets, scenes and characters – he became more determined to discover the truth. Whatever lay ahead, he had to know!
If you remember that famous boat scene, and felt the exhilaration that soars in a way that only rebellious, adventurous discovery can provide – then you will love my recommendation for you!
Take all of the nuanced, mysterious hyper-reality of The Truman show, catapult it into the heart of the Marvel Universe and get ready to DIVE INTO the new series on Disney+: WandaVision.
In the 9 episodes of the first season, you are thrust back in time into a 1950's sitcom, complete with quirky one-liners, typical sitcom shenanigans, and canned audience laughter. The stars of the show: Wanda with pearls and perfectly coiffed hair, and Vision in a human-suit, glasses, and cardigan.
But didn't Vision die?
Yes! Yes, he did. Yet, he is seemingly alive and well in this black and white version of suburban paradise. As the first show unfolds, we sense that something is not quite right. The characters almost seem pained as they go through their lines. Though it's being broadcast through a network, it also seems like real life within a real neighborhood. The confusion is palpable not only for the viewer, but it almost seems like the very actors themselves are playing a part that doesn't sit well in the studio.
As the show continues, later episodes show Wanda and Vision living out their reality in new eras. It's almost as if the show changes overnight, with the entire cast morphing into whatever roles their “Director” is dictating.
But who is the Director?
Everyone seems to be aware of who it is– except the Director. I don't want to give too much away, so I'll let you discover that for yourself!
Be ready for answers to some of the most-asked questions from the Marvel Universe, as you :
- explore exactly what happened to the people that disappeared AFTER Thanos snapped his fingers and eliminated half of the world's population.
- delve deeper into the complex love story of Wanda and Vision.
- prepare yourself for some serious crossover into other parallel lines in the Marvel Universe.
As a huge fan of Marvel movies, and as I am particularly fond of Wanda - one of the hardest scenes for me to behold was the agonizing death scene of Vision in Avengers: Infinity War. Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff) and Paul Bettany (Vision) tore our hearts out, as we watched both Wanda and Vision sacrifice everything they held dear for the protection of the universe. I always wanted to know “what if” they were given another chance.
That's exactly what you get to experience with WandaVision!
True to their characters, both Wanda and Vision pull you even deeper into what love and sacrifice truly mean. Do not forget your tissues for this one! It will break your heart all over again in the best way possible – leaving you begging for more!
Be sure to catch WandaVision on Disney+. You will not regret a single moment!
