Top 10 Best Episodes of 'The Office'!

Bears. Beets. And you know the rest...

By Jonathan SimPublished 6 years ago 6 min read

Fifteen years ago, The Office premiered on TV, and it soon became one of the most well-known comedy series in the world. And as someone who doesn't usually commit to watching TV shows, this is one of the rare shows that hooked me.

And since there are no new movies to review, I decided to take advantage of the time and the recent 15th anniversary of the show's debut to give you my ten favorite episodes of the show.

Before I begin, however, I have to extend my HONORABLE MENTIONS to Product Recall, Branch Wars, Casino Night, A.A.R.M., The Fight, The Deposition. These are just a few of the hilarious, enjoyable episodes this show has had to offer, but I had ten episodes that I liked more. So here we go.

10. Diversity Day (Season 1, Episode 2)

When I first started the show, I wasn't a big fan of the pilot, and from what I heard, it was very similar to the pilot of the U.K. TV series this show is based on, but I soon decided to watch the second episode of the series, and this is the episode that reeled me in.

This is a hilarious episode, featuring a lot of inappropriate jokes that manage to be funny without being too mean-spirited. The scene where Michael makes the office workers wear cards on their heads is a classic in the show.

It does a great job of showing Michael's annoying personality, while also establishing more characters and personalities, such as Kevin and Angela. Overall, it's my favorite episode of season 1.

9. Niagara (Season 6, Episode 4-5)

Jim and Pam's office romance was the most investing part of the show for me. It was developed exceptionally well, and there was something so fascinating about watching the episodes and seeing these two ordinary people secretly in love with each other.

And after over five seasons, the writers of the show finally gave fans the PB&J marriage we deserved. The episode is not short on hilarious jokes, with great ideas like when Andy tears his scrotum doing a split and Kevin's antics with his shoes and his wig.

This all culminates to the wedding, where Jim and Pam run off to get married on a boat under Niagara Falls, as the rest of the office workers give them a surprise dance number in the church, all to the tune of Chris Brown's "Forever". Truly iconic.

8. Classy Christmas (Season 7, Episode 11-12)

While everyone needs to watch this show from the beginning, the first episode I ever watched of The Office is Classy Christmas, when my sister made me watch it. This may be why I have a special place for this episode in my heart, but I love this episode.

It brings Holly Flax back to the Scranton branch, which results in a very personal episode for Michael, as he has feelings for her, but can't act on them because she is dating AJ. This episode balances out Michael's complex emotions and actions with some hilarious comedy as well.

My favorite part of the episode is the subplot with Jim and Dwight's snowball fight, as Office fans have been tuned to watching Jim prank Dwight. However, this episode lets Dwight have his revenge in the most hysterical way, and Jim's paranoia creates some effortlessly funny scenes.

7. Threat Level Midnight (Season 7, Episode 17)

On your marks, get set...DIE!

Man, this is such an enjoyable episode. It's very unconventional, as a majority of it is Michael's so-bad-it's-good action spy thriller, and the results are something to be seen.

You can see how much fun the actors had with this episode. Jim Halpert playing the villainous Goldenface is hilarious, and it's just a joy to watch this poorly written adventure starring Agent Michael Scarn and his robot butler.

It was also such a great idea to take a subplot from a season 2 episode and bring it to life with this episode filled with cameos from characters from earlier seasons such as Jan, Roy, Karen, and Helene. And I have one last thing to say: cleanup on aisle five.

6. Business School (Season 3, Episode 17)

This was such a great episode of the show. I loved the scenes where Michael is giving the speech to Ryan's business school because it shows his ridiculous personality so well, and it's just so funny to watch him give his wisdom to students who seemed to be a lot smarter than him.

Back at the office, everyone is freaking out over the bat that got stuck in the building, and it's hilarious to see how everyone responds to this. We have a scene where Dwight and Creed team up, and Jim's prank where he makes Dwight think he's becoming a vampire is the icing on the cake.

However, what put this episode on the list is the ending, when, after Michael fails to make an impact on the students, he is one of the only ones to arrive at Pam's art show and sincerely compliment her work, before buying one of her paintings. This is one of the sweetest moments of the show.

5. Finale (Season 9, Episode 24-25)

While seasons 8 and 9 were far from my favorite seasons of the show, and I still consider them to be flawed, the way season 9 ended is quite perfect.

The final episode of the show catches up with the office workers a year after the documentary airs, with Dwight running the Scranton branch as regional manager, and this episode gives very satisfying closure to every character.

Jim and Pam move to Austin, Ryan and Kelly reunite, Dwight and Angela get married, Kevin owns a bar, Oscar runs for State Senate, Creed is arrested, and Erin meets her birth parents. Even Andy, who had been insufferable during that season, gets his dream job at Cornell.

The return of Michael Scott was executed perfectly, and it was so lovely to get a glimpse of him and the fact that he has a wife and kids in Colorado. Overall, this is one of my favorites of the show.

4. The Injury (Season 2, Episode 12)

Okay, this is one of the funniest episodes of the entire show. The premise of the episode is so creative, with the idea of Michael burning his foot on a George Foreman grill and then acting overly dramatic as he tries to garner sympathy from his workers.

Every joke in this episode lands so well, and Carell's comedic performance is gold. Michael's stupid behavior and Dwight suddenly becoming nice to Pam due to his concussion are all hysterical.

While this episode is technically a "filler" episode, it is a laugh riot from start to finish.

3. Scott's Tots (Season 6, Episode 12)

Hey, Mr. Scott! Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do? Make our dreams come true!

Apparently, some people skip this episode when binging the show because it's too uncomfortable. For me, I'm used to watching Impractical Jokers punishments, so this episode is a walk in the park compared to those.

But man...this episode. It's so awkward and embarrassing, but it's so entertaining to watch Michael squirm in this situation that he dug himself into. It also develops the relationship between Michael and Erin, and the fact that it's so uncomfortable is what makes this episode so ingenious to me.

2. Stress Relief (Season 5, Episode 14-15)

I feel like many would agree with my opinion that the cold open of this episode is the best cold open of the entire show, with Dwight setting fire to the office and everyone completely freaking out. This opening scene is hilarious from the first minute to the last.

And the rest of the episode doesn't disappoint, with a classic CPR scene, and it eventually leads to Michael roasting everyone on the show. It's one of the funniest episodes of the show, and I love it.

1. Dinner Party (Season 4, Episode 13)

Right here. The best episode of The Office is an episode that barely takes place in the office. It gives us a look at Michael's disastrous home life with Jan, and this creates so many hilarious, uncomfortable moments where Michael and Jan conflict with each other.

Everything about this episode is so enjoyable, and aside from Michael and Jan's bickering, there was a lot of great comedy with Andy and Angela's relationship and Dwight showing up later in the episode with his old babysitter.

Not to mention the most iconic song ever. You took me by the hand; made me a man; that one night, you made everything alright! Don't lie. You can just hear those lyrics, can't you?

Overall, these are my favorite episodes of The Office. Tell me your favorite on Twitter; I'm @TheJonathanSim.
