This Week’s Anime Recap: Series I Completed

Week 1 of 52 — Jan 1–7 2025

By animetipzPublished about a year ago 6 min read

This is a new series that I am going to do all year because I am insane. It would be fun to review the anime I finish each week. Believe it or not, I finish more anime than I have time to write about so these will be brief recaps. I will be sure to link the full reviews when I write them as well.

This will be day 7 of my 30-day anime challenge as well. Can you believe it? already a week into 2025. Day 7 is my most recently watched anime which fits perfectly with this weekly recap too! If you missed day 6 check it out here.

I hope you enjoy week one! I’d love to hear what you watched this week too.

Ishura

Storyline: In a world where the Demon King has died, a host of demigods capable of felling him have inherited the world. A master fencer who can figure out how to take out their opponent with a single glance; a lancer so swift they can break the sound barrier; a wyvern rogue who fights with three legendary weapons at once; an all-powerful wizard who can speak thoughts into being; an angelic assassin who deals instant death. Eager to attain the title of “One True Hero,” these champions each pursue challenges against formidable foes and spark conflicts themselves. The battle to determine the mightiest of the mighty begins.

Info: 12 Episodes

Genre: Fantasy, Drama, Action

Rating: TV-MA

My Review: Is this the best fantasy I have ever seen? no. Is it worth watching? I think so. I like how they set up each character. You have an emotional connection and when the battle starts you are shocked by who they kill off.

I am surprised more people don’t know about this show. This anime has already been approved for a second season, and I am looking forward to seeing where this story will go.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Laura Croft

Storyline: Follows heroine Lara Croft as she explores new territory.

Info: 8 Episodes

Genre: Adventure, Thriller, Fantasy

Rated: TV-14

My Review: I can’t say this is a bad anime. It was entertaining, however it was also disappointing. They are coming out with a second season in 2025 that I don’t think I will be watching. They could have done so much more with the animation, story, and characters. This show feels like when you bite into a cake and find out it’s stale. You are so excited to have cake and then you take that bit and your heart sinks a little. You might finish the slice because it’s still cake but It’s not good. Weird annology but hopefully you get what I am saying.

Yu Yu Hakusho

Storyline: Yusuke Urameshi was a normal middle school punk until he was hit and killed by a car while saving a child. His selfless action earned him the right to gain his life back and serve as a detective of the spirit world, keeping the world of the living safe from a myriad of demons. But being reborn has its price: Yusuke must hatch a spirit beast that will develop according to his actions, and if he doesn’t act in a good and honest manner, it will eat his soul. Can Yusuke protect the human and spirit worlds and still manage to save himself in the process?

Info: 112 episodes

Genre: Shonen, Action, Comedy

Rating: TV-PG

My Review: I see why people enjoy this show. It’s got unique and creative story arcs, with loveable characters. Personally, It wasn’t my favorite. I am not sure if it’s because of the length, the old-school style (Which I have a hard time with), or the fact it’s not attached to bad memories. I think if you are a Shonen fan this is the perfect anime for you.

The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting

Storyline: WHO’S YOUR NANNY? Kirishima Tooru is the right-hand man of the Sakuragi crime family. For him, the job is a perfect excuse to let his violent instincts run wild, earning him the nickname “the Demon of Sakuragi”. It seems like nothing will stand in the way of his vicious nature. But then one day, he receives an assignment like never before from the boss — babysitting his daughter! This is the heartwarming (or is it bloodcurdling?) story of a little girl and her yakuza caretaker!

Info: 12 Episodes

Genre: Comedy, Drama

Rating: TV-14

My Review: You have to watch this anime. It is only 12 episodes and it is a 10/10 for me. I was laughing and emotional and heartbroken when it was over. I will be reading the manga so I can see how the story continues. This anime will easily be one of my favorites from the year and I might have to rewatch it soon. This anime will leave you all warm, fuzzy, and happy. Please just watch it!

Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon

Storyline: After dying in a traffic accident, I find myself standing near an unfamiliar lake. My body won’t move, I can’t hear my voice, and when I try to shout in confusion, words that I never expected come out! I-it seems I’ve turned into a vending machine… How am I going to survive some fantasy world’s dungeon like this?!

Info: 12 episodes

Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Isekai

Rating: TV-14

My Review: This was a fun and creative anime. If you need something to watch to keep your mind off of something this is the perfect anime. It is not one of the best anime I have ever seen but I am glad I watched it and it got my spirits up enough to continue watching Attack on Titan, So I’d say it served its purpose well and I will be on the lookout for season 2.

Shows I watched this week but haven’t finished

Attack on Titan season 4

Horimiya Missing Pieces (Rewatch)

Insomniacs After School

Dungeon People

One Piece Fish Man Island Saga

Haikyuu!! Season 2

Zenshu

I hope you don’t think this is bragging in any way, I almost think it is embarrassing how much I can watch in a single week. Anime is meant to be enjoyed. If you watch one show in a year or 100 in a week doesn’t change the fact that it’s there for our enjoyment. I work remotely, and I stay home a lot, so I have anime on at 1.5x speed for most of my day which is how I can watch so much. Keep in mind a 12-episode show is only 2 hours for my broken brain. I also have mental issues that I don’t want to deal with right now, so instead of sitting in my thoughts, I have anime playing which helps my mentality stay positive, which has worked better than anything else I have tried.

This is also why I love blogging. Whether you have read 1 of my blogs or all of them I appreciate it and hope I have been entertaining you. I wonder if I can keep up with this daily posting schedule. What would you like to read about if I were to keep posting daily? Anime reviews? Lists of anime recommendations? Another anime challenge? Blogs like these? I’d love some ideas! Let me know in the comments below.

What anime have you watched this week? Any good recommendations for me?

Thanks for reading!!

Organizing Your Anime: My Methods for Tracking and Completing Anime

Let’s get it out of the way, I am a freak. I first started watching anime in 2013ish. I realized quickly that there were too many anime I wanted to watch to keep track of them all. I also found it annoying to try and remember which episode you were on in a show, it would take the fun out of watching it by trying to remember and starting an episode only to realize you had already watched it.

See ya tomorrow!!
