The vengeance-dealing Dragonfly sticks it to the man! The acrobatic sleuth Dragonflyman assists the police! These alternate-earth versions of the same masked crimefighter meet face-to-face for the first time in this new series by the original creators of the smash-hit The Wrong Earth! Will their impossible encounter result in a team-up... or an all-out war? Every AHOY title also features extra bonus prose stories, beautifully illustrated.

This is one of my absolute favourite series. What Tom and Jamal have created here is beyond utterly brilliant and complete and total look at the difference in how comics were and are in this satirical way that just brings a smile to your face. The first page is a new kind of splash page and it works beautifully to bring the reader up to speed on what’s been going on so longtime fans can be reminded and new readers can be brought up to speed. Plus the brilliance in the illustrations side by side like this automatically enthrals me and captures the imagination in such perfect ways.

I really am enjoying the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold and how the reader learns information is presented exceptionally well. The way that this is structured and how the layers within the story continue to be focal points just keep the readers’ attention glued to the pages. The character development is incredible! To see the effect of living in each others universe has done to the Dragonflymen is beyond what I was expecting or hoped for. The pacing is superb and as it takes us through the pages and sets up what we are going to see throughout this arc is stupendous stuff.

How everything works together to create the story’s ebb & flow is sensationally well rendered. Also that this comic is this commentary on comics as it’s told through the comic in entire run isn’t lost on me and I wholeheartedly appreciate seeing put down in writing and artwork what I attempt to get others to see. There is nothing like a perfect visual aide to show someone when you want to demonstrate how lighthearted and quirky could still be adventurous and dangerous without being all dark and angst ridden.

I love the interior artwork here. The pencils that Jamal lays down are phenomenal to see. How we see the linework and their varying weights and techniques being utilised to bring out the detail work is beautifully rendered. Then to see backgrounds utilised as they are to enhance the moments as well as provide depth perception, a sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope for the story is amazing. The inking on top of the linework extremely impressive and it makes it look as if there is one person who did it all so that’s a great demonstration of skill and talent. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective int he panels show a remarkably talented eye for storytelling. The colour work we see is divine. The way that we see the various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work shows some extremely nice knowledge of how colour works.

This really is one of the best books you’ll read and you’ll be amazed at how fast it rises the ranks of what you look forward to when you see it’s coming out. Then when you add in the extra stories Ahoy Comics really knows how to bring you the best entertainment you are going to find.
