The Most Successful Cast Members from MTV's 'Teen Mom'
They all started as teen moms, but some made more of a name for themselves than others did

MTV hit television gold back in 2009 with the introduction if its reality TV series, 16 & Pregnant. The show debuted with the goal of making teenagers more aware of the risks and struggles of teen pregnancy, as well as raise awareness of overall sexual health. The second unexpected hit came from their spinoff franchise, Teen Mom.
Teen Mom selected a handful of teens that debuted on various seasons of 16 & Pregnant and continued following as their stories evolved past the birth of their babies. With continued television exposure comes a lot of money as well as book deals, speaking tours, sponsorships, and even other TV shows and movies. While some Teen Mom cast members have relied purely off MTV's salary to survive, others have evolved past teen parenting and made it work with entirely separate careers and branding.
Let's take a look at the most successful Teen Mom alums and see what they're up to in 2024.
Mackenzie Douthit

Mackenzie Douthit (formerly McKee) has had a rocky road when it comes to her appearance on MTV, but she managed to make lemonade when given a bunch of lemons. First appearing on season 4 of 16 & Pregnant in 2012, Mackenzie showcased her rural Oklahoma lifestyle with her now ex-husband, Josh McKee, as they welcomed their son, Gannon. She was one of four girls featured in season 4 to appear on the one and only season of Teen Mom 3. Mackenzie was brought back to MTV in 2019 for Teen Mom OG after Bristol Palin departed the show and continued on to appear in Teen Mom: The Next Chapter - despite tensions with fellow cast members.
Mackenzie endured a rather tumultuous marriage with Josh, despite, welcoming two more children - Jaxie and Broncs. The couple decided to divorce in 2022 which prompted Mackenzie's move to Florida. Viewers also witnessed her lose her mother, Angie, to lung cancer after a long battle.

Since relocating from Oklahoma to Florida, Mackenzie seems to have found her groove both personally and financially. She became a personal trainer and launched her fitness program, Body by Mac, aimed at helping other people struggling with diabetic conditions and complications. She has also written a book, "Straightening my Crown: Conquering My Royal Mistakes," and partnered in opening a Florida-based cheerleading gym. In 2024, she also announced her engagement to Jamaican soccer player, Khesanio Hall, and documented their journey with IVF treatments on the show. After all is said and done, Mackenzie has managed to gain an estimated net worth of $1.3 million.
Leah Messer

We first met Leah Messer on the second season of 16 & Pregnant as the relationship between her and first baby daddy, Corey Simms, resulted in a pregnancy with twins, Aliannah and Aleeah. As the couple transitioned onto Teen Mom 2, we saw Leah and Corey get married and struggle with one of the twins' medical diagnosis of muscular dystrophy. The couple eventually divorced amidst accusations of infidelity and Leah went on to marry her second ex-husband, Jeremy Calvert. She and Jeremy welcomed another daughter, Adalynn. She was also set to tie the knot a third time with Marine Corps veteran and ex-NASA employee, Jaylan Mobley, but the couple called off their engagement in 2022.

Leah's life hasn't been quite as glamorous as the other teen moms as she's chosen to stay in West Virginia and navigate a more simple life. Along with remaining on MTV and documenting her life, she has done work with MaryKay, LipSense, and even released a book, "Hope, Grace, & Faith" in 2020. Leah also has been working towards becoming a real estate agent while completing speaking and advocacy tours regarding muscular dystrophy and teen pregnancy. A net worth of $1 million is a pretty good trophy to hold up for all the hard work.
Farrah Abraham

Farrah Abraham is by far the most financially successful of the entire cast - whether you agree with how she did it or not. Despite being the first cast member fired from MTV for starring in an adult film, Farrah has managed to build an empire with an estimated net worth of $5 million. After her termination from Teen Mom, she successfully sued Viacom and won an undisclosed settlement.

Farrah graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 2011 and later launched the "Mom & Me" pasta sauce brand. She even launched a boutique and furniture store branded for her daughter, Sophia, as well as a frozen yogurt store in Austin, TX. She also has appeared on other TV shows such as Ex on the Beach, Couples Therapy, Marriage Boot Camp, Face the Truth, Botched, and Celebrity Big Brother. She has also appeared in a few independent films and released her own music album and book titled "My Teenage Dream Ended." She also has created quite a following on TikTok as a comedian, as well as making money off OnlyFans and Cameo.
Farrah's personality is a lot to take in and she's said a lot of things about a lot of people, but you can't deny that she knows how to make money.
Kailyn Lowry

Kailyn Lowry is one of the more controversial figures in the Teen Mom franchise, being one of the only ones to have multiple children with different men and remain unmarried. She debuted in season 2 of 16 & Pregnant with her ex-boyfriend, Jo Rivera, and welcomed their son Isaac. Kailyn then made the move to Teen Mom 2 where she had a failed marriage to US Air Force airman, Javi Marroquin, and a second son named Lincoln. After having two more sons, Lux and Creed, with ex-boyfriend Chris Lopez, Kailyn decided to leave MTV in 2022 after revealing that she made more money from podcasting than she did filming the show. She has also had two more children with new boyfriend, Elijah Scott, named Verse and Valley.
In addition to MTV, Kailyn hosts three podcasts - Coffee Convos, Baby Mamas No Drama, and Barely Famous. She has also released five books and sells her own apparel. She even ventured into health & beauty products and operated CBD-infused Pothead Haircare for three years.

If she didn't have six kids to feed her net worth would no doubt be higher given everything she's managed to accomplish, but she currently sits at an estimated net worth of $1.7 million. Not bad, Kail!
Maci McKinney

Maci McKinney (formerly Bookout) is another former teen mom who sure knows how to put herself out there and make money. Debuting in the very first episode of 16 & Pregnant, the self-proclaimed overachiever found herself pregnant with ex-fiancé, Ryan Edwards, and gave birth to their son, Bentley. Maci transitioned into Teen Mom and quickly became a fan favorite and has been described as being one of the "best" parents on the show. Like many others who didn't stay with their original baby daddy, she went on to marry former motocross racer, Taylor McKinney, in 2016 and had two more children - Jayde and Maverick.
Maci and Taylor have ventured into business together with their clothing line TTM (Things That Matter), along with a venture into real estate. So far the couple has purchased three homes in Maci's home state of Tennessee. Maci has also released two books, done several book and appearance tours, been an outspoken advocate of PCOS, and even appeared on an episode of Naked and Afraid in 2018. More recently, Maci has been coaching youth softball and youth wrestling.

Maci has always known how to stay busy and she and her husband both seem to know how to successfully operate business ventures, along with starring on reality TV. Their net worth is estimated around $3 million.
Chelsea DeBoer

Chelsea DeBoer (formerly Houska) first appeared on the second season of 16 & Pregnant in 2010 where we saw her and ex-boyfriend, Adam Lind, become parents to Aubree. Chelsea quickly became a quick fan favorite on Teen Mom 2 and stayed on the show until she decided to leave MTV in 2020. Needless to say, she used her MTV fame (and money) to move onto bigger and better things.
Not only did Chelsea manage to stay out of a lot of network and personal scandals, she also had a very lovable small town storyline. She went on to marry former South Dakota construction worker, Cole DeBoer, in 2016 and had three more children - Watson, Layne, and Walker. After leaving MTV, the couple ventured into the home renovation world and signed a deal with HGTV to film have their own show, Down Home DeBoers. Chelsea has also launched a home decor business, Aubree Says, with her daughter in South Dakota.

Combining MTV, HGTV, Aubree Says, and a social media following of over 6 million followers, Chelsea and Cole have an estimated net worth of around $2 million.
