Carly Beth Cadwell is a scaredy cat who suffers ridiculous bullying at the hands of Chuck and Steve. They prank her in the pumpkin patch and embarass her at school, legit getting all the entire lunch room to laugh at her after one particularly nasty prank involving tricking Carly Beth to eat a worm in her sandwich.

Carly Beth is tired of being a scaredy cat and is even confronted by her best friend, Sabrina Mason, that tells her, ''come on, everyone knows you're afraid of everything.'' This is an emotional scene where Carly Beth doesn't want to be afraid all the time. She does not like how it feels. She suggests that maybe someday Chuck and Steve will know how it feels.

Carly Beth is even pestered by his obnoxious little brother, Noah. He is a blonde haired little weasel that torments his big sister terribly. She is getting bullied at home and bullied at home. Her mother is very loving and even sews her a duck costume. Carly beth's mother even sculpts a bust of her daughter's head .

She loves her daughter and this will come back into play later as a key to defeat the evil haunted mask. She really wants to scare Chuck and Steve and so Carly Beth buys a forbidden haunted mask and goes home and scares her little brother with it. He is terrified of the mask and she chastizes him and asks don't you recognize my clothes? Later the mask gets stuck to her face and the evil of the haunted mask possesses her and causes her to go crazy.

She frightens a little girl and goes crazy one woman threatens to call the cops. Carly Beth says she is not afraid of the woman and Sabrina is scared and does not even feel she knows this new sick Carly Beth. She even scares Sabrina and makes her think she is going to attack her. They go to Sabrina's house and when Carly Beth goes to take off the mask it is stuck. It has become her face and she goes to see the shopkeeper. He tells her the mask can only be removed with a symbol of love.

The other masks chase her and takes the head, the scultpure her mother made and says this is who I am, Carly Beth. This defeats the other masks and she is able to defeat the haunted mask and remove it. She claims, ''it's just a mask again.'' A symbol of love, that's what he meant.''

It is a symbol of love because her mom made it because her mother loves her. It is defintely a great ending and is a great message to kids to appreciate what you have and what you've always had. The shopkeeper has a terribly disfigured face, that he is too afraid what is underneath his seemingly human face, but is another mask. He says his current face is turning into a monstrosity because the dark thoughts infects it like the others. It will soon join the other failures on the shelf.

While the shopkeeper is permanantly disfigured, Carly Beth gets a second chance and gets to live the rest of her days as herself. She hugs her mother and has a big emotional hug and the episode ends on a cliff hanger.

The cliff hanger is my only gripe with the episode. It really is a punch in the gut to finish that way because it ends so well before that, defeating the Haunted Mask only to go with the evil still lurks trope. It is a good twist but it would be better letting good triumph over evil.
