The advancements of Superheroes

In the world of superheroes in TV and Movies, Marvel and DC have shown us a world of different technologic advances. My favorite technical advances have been shown in the TV show Marvel Agents of Sheild. The science divisions of Shield were able to create weapons that can stop people in their tracks without killing. In Avengers we were shown Hawkeye’s super cool quiver that lined up the arrows the same way a barrel of a gun moves. Batman always has different weapons or gadgets he uses both in live-action movies and in cartoons.

The Icer in Agents of Shield

In the show Marvel's Agents of Shield, they created an Icer gun that is able to drop an assailant immediately in their tracks. With how the world is changing, going from what was known as peace, to the non-stop violent riots that seem to keep happening in the states, with different factions fighting over different ideas or cultures in the world.

How much easier would these riots be if instead of releasing tear gas, or water hoses, or even rubber or regular bullets on a crowd if instead, you had a gun that doesn’t kill people but stop them in their tracks.

Like for example, this year we had a flurry of police brutality attacks on the black community. Instead of a bullet that will instantly silence someone of color forever, why not a shot that would silence someone temporarily so more people could get justice.

Instead of making mass riots because there's been an unfair death in the world, we have a weapon of peace that the police can use to do their work in a manner that is safe for them and safe for the assailant as well. As we all know, in the world of law it’s always innocent until proven guilty. So why shouldn’t we have a weapon that will ensure those innocent persons can eventually prove their innocence.

Iron Man’s Technological Advances

Of course, it isn’t just weapons that are shown in the movies. In Marvels’ Iron man it is shown that Tony Stark has an AI named Jarvis that is basically like his butler in a way. Similar to how Batman has Alfred, it is shown throughout the Marvel Universe that Tony has Jarvis. We’ve seen in the movies that Tony is able to use Jarvis to get information on absolutely everything. All the screens that are shown throughout the movies are just thin glass plates.

Tony has shown the ability to have top technology at his fingertips that he can create by just moving his hands.

In Captain America, we saw that Howard Stark created flying cars, and Tony was able to create a self-sustaining energy source that could light up a whole building. Or even a person. The arc reactor is something amazing as an energy source just like the Vibranium we got to see in Black Panther.

One of my favorite things about the Iron Man and The Avenger movies is all the different Iron Man suits we get to see. My favorite is in Avengers where Loki pushes him out of his own building and Tony is able to save himself by calling his suit with his bracelets.

The Iron Man suit is something that is continually changing. In Iron man three we see that Tony with all his stress and anxiety in the aftermath of the Battle of New York that he spent the time making forty-two different suits all in different ways. Even the avengers Quinjet is also used in Agents of Sheild, which is something that seems to be unique to the Marvel world. The quintet is full of state-of-the-art technology including mirror capabilities that make it invisible to the naked eye.

The Magic of Vibranium

Similar to Tony Stark, Wakanda is full of technological advancements the like that the world has never seen. Never seen because Wakanda has been hidden from the world for generations. A country that many people have thought to be a third world country, might actually be more advanced than the most technological countries of the world.

Shuri’s lab in Wakanda is full of state of the art weapons and in the movie, they show us that Shuri has made something that enables her to operate motorized vehicles in the comfort of her lab, an invention that became a necessity in the final battle sequence when they needed to stop jets from leaving Wakanda for the outside world.

In Captain America: Civil War, we even see that Tony has a jet that can drive itself when he leaves it mid-flight to rejoin Captain America in Moscow. It takes autopilot on a whole new level. One of my favorite things about Shuri’s lab in Wakanda is the train system that it has in place to transport vibranium to different places in the underground, using magnetic levitation and sonic stabilizers to keep the vibranium safe.

She also has beads that everyone or at the very least the guards, and the royalty of Wakanda have beads on their hands that enable them to access different things in Wakanda and also communicate with different people with astral projections. Like a form of Video chatting except without the use of phones.

Technology in Film

Technology in the film is always more advanced than the technology we have at our fingertips. A lot of what we see on film is borrowed from what we wish to see. If there were more people who actually tried to create the technology we see in the film may be the world would be a better place. Or maybe somewhere in the governments of the world it’s already in place and is just not available for the common man.

Many things could be changed with technology, a life that is better than the one we had before. Of course, with these changes comes the worry that technology will take over the world. Of course, sometimes that idea isn’t always a bad thing. The world has always been filled with violence and terrible weapons.

Before bullets and bombs, there were fire and metal-made weapons. Swords and archery. There have always been advancements to make horrible weapons to take down threats in the world, instead of advancements to make the world an easier place to live in. The world we live in is one that takes profit over the will of the people.
