Have you ever heard about a story that is hot on Netflix right now? For me, if you watch this story, it's worth your time. This story is about the war that happened in Lahad Datu. It is based on a true story. If you don't believe it, you can Google Lahad Datu. If there is Netflix, it means you can watch it, and I don't share any illegal links. This movie is worth watching.
This incident happened when a group of GMN (Gerakan Militant Nusantara) conquered Lahad Datu. The beginning of the story already makes you breathless. It is light family stories only. There is no depth of family relationships even though each has his own family. The sacrifice of friends in war is heartbreaking. This story also tells the journey of the enemy in Lahad Datu. They are all extremists practicing heresy.
Practitioners of black magic believe that their leader can gain immunity if practiced correctly. The first step is to negotiate with GMN. Having to take a chance, a war without involving lives is a great victory for both sides. This situation is getting more tense because the demands from the Head of GMN are difficult to fulfill. Because of that the Malaysian army made a plan to face the threat of the enemy. From this situation both sides have casualties. Many died.
Syafiq Kyle's acting can be said to be good. A good person and has many friends. Always helping friends in trouble and skilled in combat. Kamal Adli's acting is a little hot-tempered and always makes decisions based on feelings. In terms of cinematography, it's not very impressive if you want to compare it to Hollywood movies, but it's clear if you want to see what happens during the war.
The script in this movie is not too heavy and rather light. So the depth of this story is not reached because if there is no weight in the script it means that this story is easily forgotten. The development of each of these characters is not very good. All the characters are neutral except for the members who died. Although the close combat is not exciting it's also good for trying. The story of how this group came to be is still a mystery.
Compared to other stories such as The Raid Redemption and The Raid 2 is far from that. That kind of action movie is still better than Lahad Datu. But I promise you it is good in its way. Doesn't have a good soundtrack. I will not complain a lot because the budget for this film is pretty low.
A villain's motives are not strong enough and unclear. A greedy person who will do anything to achieve his goals. It doesn't matter how many people die. The thing that should be praised is the tension between the two sides to produce a war. You will wonder if the war will start here or otherwise. Many parties are involved in making this peace mission a success. But will these peace talks succeed or not? Let's watch it together.
At the end of the story, we learn that we should always prepare for the worst. Because if we can expect that to happen we know what we have to do before it gets worse.Well, that is all for my review today.
