It's Been Eight Years Already? How Game of Thrones Has Not Changed My Life
Don’t get me wrong, I am not writing to bash this monumental achievement of pop culture. Far be it from me to acknowledge the far-reaching effects of this series on audiences around the world, including many of my friends and relatives. I just want to put a little perspective on the view from those that did not (gasp!) watch this 8-year event. This is a personal point of view, not a value judgment of the series’ merits.

17 Pokémon Scandals You Might Have Missed
1. Japanese Children Hospitalized with Seizures There are countless video games out there that are plastered with epilepsy warnings, but it was the Pokémon TV show that triggered a seizure epidemic in Japan back in 1997. More than 700 adults and kids developed epilepsy-like symptoms after watching Pokémon. Episode 38, "Denno Senshi Porygon," was forever taken off the air because of the health risk.

Thank You MCU
When Iron Man first appeared on the world’s cinema screens, I was only 8 years old. I don’t remember watching it straight away, and I can’t recall the first time I watched it, but I remember it becoming something everyone in my family was very interested in. We’ve watched every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie together ever since, and we have all laughed, cried, and celebrated along with each and every character.

How Has Comic Book Culture Evolved Over the Years?. Top Story - April 2019.
The precursor to Marvel Comics was born all the way back in 1939 under the magazine publisher Martin Goodman, who created Timely Comics. It’s hard to believe, but that was already eighty years ago. Comic books have been a huge part of nerd culture for decades, but things have evolved quite a lot over the years.

Beach Bummer
Harmony Korine has a chequered movie history. I’ve been there since Kids (which he wrote), and he’s gone on to write/direct some classics like Julien Donkey-Boy and Spring Breakers. However, he’s also made a real clanger with Trash Humpers. His music videos are also all over the shop, his Rihanna video exhibits the same problems as Beach Bum (I'll come onto that below), and the Umshini Wam Die Antwoord collaboration was a missed opportunity.

Group Infighting
It doesn't matter what kind of group it is anymore, there seems to infighting everywhere. It is in places you would expect like politics and religion, to places you would think it would happen less, like in groups of nerds and geeks who like superheroes and anime. It saddens me that what used to bring a lot of us together seems to be ripping us apart. We used to have such solidarity in one another. We, the geeks, nerds, gamers, and otaku used to be the group who were harassed by the sports people, and regular people alike, but now, we are fighting each other. It breaks my heart. We have put too much emphasis on what makes "a real [fill in specific subculture here.]" Who cares as long as we can come together and talk about what we enjoy? Are people who play mobile games hurting anyone when they say they're a gamer? No. They're stating proudly that they are a sub-genre of a sub-culture. Do you understand what I'm saying? We need to think of what we label as a "Not real [fill in the blank]" as a type of sub-genre to the sub-culture we believe ourselves to be a part of.

16 Spine-Chilling, But Significant, Details You May Have Missed In Jordan Peele's 'Us'
1. The word 'tethered' is significant right from the start. Source: Slashfilm You may have missed it, but the word "tether" was actually used in the "Hands Across America" commercial right at the beginning - during the video the narrator says "6 million people will tether themselves together to fight hunger in the US." A nod at what's to come.

My Will Smith "Genie" Parody
This is my very first parody gone public. My Will Smith "Genie" Parody! I've been making up songs for years, but this is the first time that I actually did something with it for other people to enjoy. I felt like with all the smack that's been going on towards Will Smith about his first appearance as the genie in Disney's new 2019 live-action film, Aladdin, that he deserved some kind of praise for it. Mind you, yes, I did use his music from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to make this song a reality, but I did it all in good fun. Trust me, compared to the other stuff that is out there, this is very minor as far as making fun of this thing goes. I mean, honestly people, what did you expect?

Netflix Disrupted
This is another think piece in what will certainly be a long line of think pieces about how Green Book ended up walking away with the 91st Academy Award for Best Picture on February 24, 2019. A lot of ink will be spilled about Oscar campaigns but most will single out a lone reason why Alexander Cuaron's Roma didn't beat Green Book, and that reason is because it is a Netflix movie. That may have played a part but it's not the only reason, and frankly not even the biggest reason for the upset.
