How Jonny Quest Inspired Me
Jonny Quest in the 90s had a couple of different titles, “New Adventures of” or “Real Adventures of” depending on the season and where you lived on Earth, so here I’ll just be referring to it as Jonny Quest and assume I’m discussing the 90’s show. Despite the 2 seasons being very different shows in regards to demographic focus, they both had the same main plots; Scientist dude and his action hero BFF take their kids around the world solving mysteries and fighting monsters and villains of all sorts. It sort of borrowed a lot from the X-Files craze in that regard and helped pave the way for other shows of its type such as the early seasons of Supernatural, Roswell: Aliens, Myths, and Legends, and numerous ghost and paranormal hunter type reality shows and documentaries.

George Lucas: Genius
George Lucas was once considered an unparalleled film genius. At some point, he fell from grace and was demoted to being merely an ideas man. Although the historical truth lies somewhere in between. George Lucas’ talents were balanced by his flaws in other areas, both of which were growing so large that the flaws became undeniably obvious. Lucas was more than just an “ideas man” however. It is said that genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration, which best describes Lucas’ approach.

The Reason 'Black Panther' Should be Recast - 5 Actors That Would Make Chadwick Boseman Proud
I wanna start this article by talking about how much I admired Chadwick Boseman. Even before his iconic role as Black Panther he was one of my favorite actors from his roles in 42, Draft Day, and Get On Up. He was an amazing actor and did a lot for the black acting community and the black community at large. His work has inspired many and from what I’ve heard he was an amazing individual off the screen as well.

Lessons Animation Taught Us: A Bojack Horseman Character Study
In 2018, a Youtube channel called Filmjoy released a video called Lessons Animation Taught Us. Which inspired many content creators to make similar videos on their own explaining their own lessons that were taught to them from animation, as was it's intended goal! Now I'm going to make one of my own. I'm going to be talking about my favorite show of all time, Bojack Horseman! Many people have told me that they refuse to watch the show because of how real it is. But I think it's because of that reason, everyone should watch the show. Because the show is so complex, I can't begin to talk about it all. So I'm just going to talk about some of my favorite characters and what the taught me as they transition to the beginning of the show to the end!

I have this ritual where I watch movies multiple times. I am a movie buff. Therefore, once a year, I watch the Godfather part 1,2 and 3. I always discover something subtle that I previously missed. There is also another movie I watch religiously, more than once a year: The Dark Knight. The 2008 masterpiece by Christopher Nolan where Batman faces his archnemesis, the Joker played by the unique, once-in-a-generation talented actor, the tremendous Heath Ledger.

Video games have been around longer than we realize! Computer Space was created in the early 70’s, with Pong, a more popular game on its heels. It wouldn’t be till 1980 where we got a proper mascot character in video games, which would be Pac-Man. Other characters soon followed, with the need to cash in on them all. These endeavors included board games, stuffed toys, figurines, and eventually, animated cartoons. Now, a lot of these strayed a little far from the source material, because let’s be honest, how do you make a cartoon about a character that runs around in a maze eating dots all day? Let’s take a look at these early attempts to cash in on these properties, though I warn you, some of this is cringe as hell.

When thinking about gender representation in the media a myriad of stereotypes come to mind, most of which communicate ideals of gender that perpetuate unrealistic and limiting perceptions of who we should be. One such trope worth exploring is the ‘Cool Girl’ trope, which is more than just a fictional stereotype played on screen. An article by Jason Hellerman aptly refers to this trope as a “Real Life Fantasy, Screenwriting Nightmare”.
