2022 Reading Round-Up
At the start of 2022, I said I wanted to write something about every book I read. I didn’t think I’d end up reading 45 books, but I also didn’t think I would end up working at a library and having enough free time to read without compromising on something else.

December '22 Reads
December. The last month of the year. 365 days later and I’ve read 45 books and written 23 posts, including this one. I’m proud of myself for sticking with myself and writing about every book I read this year, and yes, a whole post recapping my 2022 in relation to books will be following this one.

Avatar: The Way Of Water--A Swing And A Miss. Top Story - December 2022.
There are a lot of reasons you might be tempted to not see this movie. You may have already heard some of the loathsome things James Cameron said about the Lakota. You may have heard it's just another chapter in the Avatar franchise's "white savior" narrative. You may have heard that a white man is exploiting the stereotypes of Indigenous peoples, hired an almost all white cast, and only white people are going to profit from it.

Review of 'The Grimrose Girls'
Once Upon a Time meets Pretty Little Liars in this queer, dark academia story about four reimagined fairy tale heroines who must uncover their ancient curses before it's too late. After the mysterious death of their best friend, Ella, Yuki, and Rory are the talk of their elite school, Grimrose Académie. The police ruled Ariane's death as a suicide, but the trio are determined to find out what really happened. When Nani Eszes arrives as their newest roommate, it sets into motion a series of events that no one could have predicted. As the girls retrace their friend's final days, they discover a dark secret about Grimrose—Ariane wasn't the first dead girl. They soon learn that all the past murders are connected to ancient fairytale curses…and that their own fates are tied to the stories, dooming the girls to brutal and gruesome endings unless they can break the cycle for good.

The Top Ten Books I Read This Year: 2022
For the last several years, I've set reading goals on Goodreads. It's worked - I kept reading and working up my goal to read thirty books in 2022. I met the goal last week and am ready to share what books I enjoyed reading the most! They are not all novels, but all good reads, nonetheless.

Confessions from a Book Lover. Pt. 1
One of the first things people notice when they walk into my apartment are my beautiful bookshelves. They are right now filled to overflowing because everyone knows I love reading so everyone gives me more books during the holidays! I love it, but my fun reading has been taken over by my literary reading (more on that later) so in consequence, my books overflow the shelves. Most of these solid, wooden bookshelves were handmade by my dad, who is a woodworker by hobby. They are beautiful, tall structures that make me imagine every day of having a giant library of my own. At the moment, though, I live in a small apartment and must allow space in my living room to live and write.

Cozy Mystery Books to Get You into the Christmas Spirit
One of the ways that I choose to celebrate the various holidays that come throughout the year is by reading a book that centers on that holiday. And one of my favorite book genres is cozy mysteries! Yes, someone dies. Occasionally multiple someones. But the stakes don't seem nearly as high or the atmosphere as sinister as other mysteries or thrillers.

The Game
I was looking for a quick read that would keep me busy for a couple of days, and I decided to pull “The Game” off of the shelf. This short novel (perhaps novella?) by Linsey Miller was something that I scooped up the last time the local bookstore was having a sale. It looked like a quick, easy read, and it seemed to have all of the ingredients of a good story: mystery, intrigue, young love, adventure, drama–what more could you want? However, after turning the final page, I felt disappointed and a bit let down.
