Time is Luck: 'Heat' and the Darkness of Filmmaking
Michael Mann is not only a celebrated writer/director, television producer, and the reason we all love Phil Collins (Thank you for that, by the way), he’s also an author. He’s written a sequel to his magnum opus, Heat. It’s called Heat 2, which is kind of awesome. If someone says, “Hey. I haven’t read the first one,” you can say, “You don’t have to read it, fam. You have to watch it.” Then that person would definitely look at you like you’re crazy then you’d have to explain the following: Heat is a crime thriller written and directed by the guy who gave us the living embodiment of the 80s, Miami Vice (and the amazing movie adaptation).

Lessons From Turkish Drama
May I Never Be At The Mercy Of My Enemy In My Time Of Dire Need Or Trouble - Quote by Author This quote rings true in the Turkish drama series Kiralik Ask (Love For Rent). Sometimes, in our bid to solve pressing problems or get out of troubling circumstances, we fall into the hands of opportunists who capitalize on our dire situations. This was what befell Defne Topal, the female protagonist in this series. In an attempt to rescue her brother from harm, she accepts a dubious offer that ends up complicating her life.

Mr. Clean, DIRTY!!
This is your roving reporter Anne O. Nimity – Yes, my parents wanted a girl. Get over it and move on. I’m down at the police station where I have just been speaking with Officer McGruff. Having recently heard of the untimely demise of the Pillsbury Doughboy - which sad event is still under investigation - I asked for a statement. The overcoat bedecked K-9 Officer was quoted as saying… “Don’t you worry, we’ll take a bite out of crime!” In any case, in my own ongoing investigations I have uncovered facts leading me to make this special news report tonight which I have titled:

Why The Office, Works
It's been 17 years since the first episode of The Office came out, and almost 10 years since the series had finished its run on NBC in 2013. But its a funny thing how popularity and cultural relevance works in the entertainment industry. There are plenty of shows/movies/music/fads that came out in the year 2005 that were huge successes and super popular at the time, but fail to hold a scintilla of that same popularity today. So its quite surprising that a show about an office environment would be able to withstand the test of time, and become even more popular now than it ever was back in its original run. And its even more surprising that a show like The Office even was able to survive and have a run, considering it almost was given up on before it was able to find its footing.

Bullet Train - A Movie Review. Top Story - August 2022.
From the way I look at this situation, maybe it’s good luck that we missed the train. Riding into theaters in 2022, Bullet Train centers around five assassins onboard a fast-moving bullet train. They soon learn that their missions have something in common.

Fatherhood
Kevin Hart is well known for his comedy roles. It was quite refreshing to see him step slightly out of character for his role in Fatherhood. I say slightly because it is not possible for Kevin not to add a bit of comedy to everything he does (a case in point is the diaper-throwing scene in this movie). He plays a recently bereaved husband navigating life with a newborn. He is all heart and soul in this beautiful movie about life, grief, pain, parenthood, family, love and friendship.

Lessons From Turkish Drama. Top Story - August 2022.
They say when you tell one lie, you tell a thousand more to make that one true. This is Ada's hilarious story in Baht Oyunu (Twist of Fate/Game of Destiny). She comes from a family history where it is erroneously believed that a woman who does not marry her first love will be unhappy for the rest of her life. When this does not work out, Ada believes herself doomed for life and puts plans in motion to win back her first love who has moved on. Of course, this throws up unintended consequences and is a harbinger of much confusion.

Why Aren't You Watching The Queer Show 'Dead End: Paranormal Park'?
Dead End: Paranormal Park is a young adult supernatural thriller based on the comic DeadEndia by Hamish Steele. It's about a neurodiverse Pakistani woman named Norma Khan (Kody Kavitha) and a trans man named Barney Guttman (Zach Barack) having adventures in the demonic-infested theme park, Phoenix Parks — a cross between Disneyworld and Dollywood. Norma and Barney battle demons, perform exorcisms, and along the way, become more confident versions of themselves — a staple of Young Adult (YA) media.
