'Stranger Things' is a terrific Netflix show

Please enjoy your stay at Hawkins. Just watch out for the mind flayer and demi-dogs.

The second season of Stranger Things takes occurs a year later from the events in season 1. Following his rescue from the Upside Down World, Will grapples to cope with reality. The gang discovers a new creature that could possibly destroy the world. Meanwhile, chief of police, Jim Hopper is hiding a great secret.

Stranger Things is one of the best Netflix thriller series. The series is the best blend of character development, friendship, and bravery. Packed solid with exciting story-lines and suspense, Stranger Things never forgets to add a touch of comedy. Season 2 focuses on making the right decisions to be happy.

Finn Wolfhard and Millie Bobby Brown are the standouts. Refusing to believe that Eleven is gone, Mike stays hopeful that she will return. Wolfhard is excellent at displaying emotion specifically during one heart-wrenching scene in the finale of the season. Mike is a leader, never letting anyone fall behind. He exhibits the true definition of friendship.

Hiding in Hopper’s home from all the horrific tests in the labs, Eleven furiously struggles emotionally trying to figure out answers. Eleven and Hopper’s (David Harbour) friendship is the focus of season 2. Brown and Harbour worked very well together flourishing the happy moments or the exasperated arguments. No friendship is ever perfect.

Out of the quartet, Gaten Matarazzo became the fan-favorite as the quirky Dustin. Matarazzo is the best at Dustin’s hilarious one-liners. His subplot with Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) was the best. No matter the age, anybody can be friends.

Welcoming a new member to the gang, Sadie Sink’s performance as the sarcastic Max was a standout. The inclusion of her character is a lesson that boys and girls can be friends. Hiding her own life struggles she tags along with the boys on their missions. Her subplot with Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) brought out emotions that they obstruct.

Noah Schnapp (Will) impressed me the first time I watched season 2. Since he didn’t have a chance to appear in many episodes in the first season, Will conveys how the Upside World really affected him. Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) proves to be the best mother, never leaving her son’s side as an evil entity takes over his body.

A couple of new faces appear in season 2. Expect an appearance by Sean Astin as ‘Bob the Brain, a fatherly figure and romantic partner to Joyce and her kids. As the charming and sadistic Billy, Dacre Montgomery proved to be somebody who you don’t want to cross paths with.

Other credits include Cara Buono, Paul Reiser, Linnea Berthelsol, Brett Gelman, and Joe Crest. Natalie Dyer and Charlie Heaton’s storyline centers around understanding love and working as a team.

Stranger Things is a character show. It’s a realistic look into how people interact, their relationships, and growth. The show’s creators, Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer distributed fantastic moments of terror, comedy, and the true meaning of friendship. The effects and designs are very in-depth and creative. My eyes were hooked to the screen amidst the climax. The special effects are incredible.

Each episode is superb. However, one episode that is dedicated to Eleven finding a gang who have similar powers like her. I have always had mixed feelings regarding this episode because it feels somewhat out of character and felt more like a filler episode.

I have enjoyed re-watching this series after my first watch, catching moments that I forgot about. Stranger Things is a terrific Netflix show. I recommend that you take the time to binge-watch it and enjoy a laugh.
