Once upon a time, a man and his daughter lived together with great love and affection. After some time, the man remarried to provide his daughter with a mothers love. His new wife had a daughter from her previous marriage. She adored her own daughter and constantly praised her, but she despised her stepdaughter. She would make the girl work all day long and always find faults in everything she did.

One day, the woman decided to get rid of her stepdaughter forever. She ordered her husband, Take her somewhere far away where I wont have to see or hear her ever again. Dont leave her at a relatives house. Just abandon her in the forest.

Hearing this, the man was heartbroken and started crying. He knew the forest was freezing, covered in snow, and she wouldnt survive. But he also knew that he had no power over his wifes decision. With a heavy heart, he took his daughter into the forest, left her there, and quickly turned back so he wouldnt have to see her freeze to death.

The girl sat shivering in the snow, her teeth chattering from the cold. Just then, Morozko, the Frost Father, jumped from tree to tree and came to her. He gently asked, Dear child, arent you cold

Although she was freezing, she humbly replied, Respected Morozko, I am completely fine.

Morozko was moved by her patience and kindness. He gave her a warm fur coat and soft blankets. Then he left but soon returned and asked again, Dear child, are you warm now

She smiled and said, Respected Morozko, now I feel completely warm.

Seeing her humility, Morozko brought a large chest for her to sit on. After some time, he asked her once more how she was feeling. By then, she was perfectly fine. Morozko rewarded her with gold and silver jewelry and filled the chest with precious gems.

Meanwhile, back home, the stepmother told her husband to Go bring back my stepdaughters frozen body from the forest. But when the man arrived at the spot where he had left her, he was shocked and overjoyed. His daughter was sitting there, wrapped in a fur coat and adorned with gold and silver jewelry! He quickly took her home along with the chest full of treasure.

When his wife saw her stepdaughter rich and happy, greed filled her heart. She ordered her husband, Take my daughter to the same place in the forest. She must also return with a chest full of jewels.

The man followed her orders and abandoned her daughter in the same spot. Soon, Morozko arrived and asked her, Dear child, arent you cold

The girl rudely snapped, Are you blind Cant you see my hands and feet are frozen Curse you, old man!

The next morning, the greedy woman woke her husband early and said, Go fetch my daughter! And dont forget to bring the chest full of treasure!

The man obeyed and went to get his wifes daughter. A while later, the sound of a horsedrawn cart was heard outside. The woman ran out excitedly, expecting to see her daughter covered in jewels. She quickly pulled off the cloth covering the cart—only to scream in horror. Her daughter lay frozen to death, punished by the angry Morozko.

The woman wailed loudly and cursed her husband, but it was all in vain. Her greed had cost her dearly.

Some time later, the mans daughter got married and had children. They all lived happily together. The man had grown old, but he would often visit his grandchildren and always remind them to respect the Frost Father, Morozko.
