Steve Burton tests positive for COVID
The 'General Hospital' star says he was exposed at work.

Soaps.com recently reported that GENERAL HOSPITAL cast member Steve Burton has tested positive for COVID. The actor who portrays Jason Morgan shared the news via Twitter on Friday the 13th. Burton was supposed to be flying to a fan event with Bradford Anderson who portrays Damian Spinelli and has tested negative for the virus on Wednesday. The fan favorite did not say why but he took another test before boarding the plane on Friday and it came back positive. Perhaps the actor was not feeling well and did not trust the results of the first COVID test.

Burton says he was exposed at work which indicates that at least one other cast or crew member has the virus. According to Chad Duel, in July those involved with the ABC soap had taken a break from taping because of the grueling schedule but he did not give dates. It was reported last week that Kirsten Storms who portrays Maxie was back taping scenes so the hiatus is over. Some fans will be wondering however if the shutdown was actually due to the fact that someone or perhaps several someones had tested positive for COVID-19.
The news that Steve Burton has the coronavirus will hit fans especially hard. He seems to be someone who is physically fit and his character Jason seems invincible. Jason recently was shot and had surgery in an unsanitary location yet he was back on his feet in no time. We know that COVID does not discriminate but "Stone Cold" is the last one GENERAL HOSPITAL fans would expect to be sick. Burton obviously will have to quarantine for the required 2 weeks and it's possible that the ABC soap might shut down again depending on if others also test positive.

In recent weeks the only person that Jason has really been up close and personal with on-screen has been Laura Wright who portrays Carly. He has had conversations with Jax, Britt, Obrecht, and Joey Novak but was not as close as he was to Carly. Episodes air about 4- weeks after taping so these scenes may not be an indicator of who else is at risk. GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers will now be wondering who exposed Steve Burton to COVID and how many of his castmates might have to quarantine.
Last year during the height of the coronavirus it was reported that two females who were part of the GENERAL HOSPITAL cast had tested positive for COVID. No details were given but shortly after Kelly Monaco's mother announced that the actress was off the show for 14 days because she had fainted while wearing a mask and standing under the bright lights. It was revealed that Kelly was claustrophobic and needed time to rest and recover. The rumor mill suggested that she was one of the two women who had the coronavirus but Monaco denied this accusation.

Jason and Carly are supposed to be getting married but it's not known when. Burton being off-canvas for a few weeks might delay things or those episodes could already have been taped. Now that Lenny as died many viewers hope that Sonny will regain his memory and return to Port Charles and stop the farse of a Jarly wedding. GENERAL HOSPITAL fans can only watch and wait to see how all of this plays out in both reel and real-time. A speedy recovery is wished for Steve Burton and hopefully, he will not have any lasting side effects or exposed anyone else to the virus.
