Snow White: From Debut to Demise

Is Snow White our first AND last Disney Princess?

Don’t get me started on her hair.

If you look up the name Snow White, your bound to find more controverial remarks flooding the internet. 87 years ago, Snow White was renounced for paving the way for animating. Now 87 years later, the story that bought up Disney is rumored to be the next downfall. But as the saying goes, the bigger they are the harder they fall. Disney has Been falling for years with every failed Live action that failed to captivate an audience like it did in the rejuvenation of the renaissance era.

As of right now the trailer for the live action story of Snow White is up to one million dislikes. It’s almost comical that Disney began with Snow White and now it looks like it ends with their first princess too.

The words: Lawsuit, inaccurate, controversial, and toxic have been used to define what is going on with the live action news. It’s not looking good for these reasons in the media.

Rachel Zegler changes the story

Lead Rachel Zegler has asked to changed the ending of the story where The Prince kisses Snow White because Snow White can’t give consent to kiss since she’s asleep. The self-awarness of the reality of the story is true about how it could be seen an non-concentual and in another story it would be validated. But this Snow White where the whole point of the story is how true love’s first kiss breaks the spell.

It’s foreboding to hear one of the core moments of the story has been altered altered, so it begs the question, what else was altered? Changes have been made in the last films from gender, race, and including self-awareness. But most of them still had the bookmarks of the moments we know from the original animated film.

A film of a similar problem came to mind about an actor’s request that had changed the production. The Outlaw Josey Wales was the film that made the rule about actor’s getting involved. Of course Zegler didn’t pull the strings like Eastwood did to fire Mark Webb, but she’s in no position to change the story.

As Doug Walker once said about Snow White in his review of The Little Mermaid, that this is a fairy tale where emotions can take the front seat and logic can take the backseat.

Snow White makes a tragic mark on her career and Zegler had poisoned her own apple with her attitide and remarks. Disney has stated that after the production of Snow White, all ties will be severed and for good reason. The news I see with her name is continuing to tell how she’s the villain in this story.

A Last Stretch

Disney exectuves have revealed that the numbers have crunched from the last box office disappointments. There is current financial issues with comany that’s coming through the grapevines. It has been confirmed that Disney is sweating over the cost of this movie. It needs to make more than 300 million dollars. it’s an oddly specific number considering this film has costed Disney up to 300 million for the production.

In the years I’ve studied the math behind these films, when it gets to three hundred million dollars worth for the territory, that’s when it gets scary. Look at The Avengers, that cost up to 250+ to the production and made back it’s money ten fold. On the downside the recent Indiana Jones film, The Dial of Destiny is ranked as the tenth most expensive production…and you know that went well like installing a water fountain in a volcano.

The math spells it all for Snow White and the fault is in the production Itself. The film did not produce an image of Snow White that fans wanted and took everything in the wrong direction. Historians have ripped apart the appearance of the dress faster then the stepsisters did in Cinderalla. (And as someone who has a historian friend, it was quite the rant).

The sad thing, though was that this could be an opportunity to fix what they broke. There is still clearly a love for the history of this character that still want to see Snow White depicted with respect.

And all of that might be a $300 million waste with a deep hole that Disney dug itself.

Seven CGI Dwarfs

I have one question about that. Why?

That’s the same question others have had when it was discovered our seven other characters were not going to be played by dwarfs. This Snow White Story is stripping the page out of it’s similar story from Snow White & The Huntsman.

Not a good look. It’s bad when you got Peter Dinklage mad.

There was an opportunity to employ dwarfs in this film for a golden oppoortunity. And this film chose to poison its own apple By doing this.

The (Not So) Evil Queen

Mark Webb poisoned another apple with this film with how own comments about the current Gaza/Palastine in front of lead Gal Gadot. It’s hoenslty the quickest ways I’ve seen a film poison itself with a lack of commen sense and respect.

Ever since Gal Gadot came into prominence with Wonder Woman, her history in the Israeli defense force has been heavily documented and praised. And then Marc Webb had to go and express his views in front of his hired lead without a shame. That information alone is alarming enough then the other irredeemable acts part of this production.

The sad part in all of this mess is how Snow White serves as the final nail int he coffin for the fans that have felt let down. The evidence is the trailer Disney holds a part of everyone’s childhood and this decade has been the hardest for the fans to see their stories get botched. But this is the final botching and it happened from the house of mouse itself.

87 years ago, when Snow White won the Academy Award. Seven little awards were placed in a line for the monumentous occasion. Now its legacy is nothing but a controversial poison apple.

The trailer didn't make sense to me, the evil queen is prettier than Snow White.
