Sasha Calle makes her exit from 'The Young and the Restless'
Lola Rosales Abbott is finally leaving Genoa City to work in Miami. In real time her portrayer is taking on the role of a lifetime.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS viewers have been concerned about Lola Rosales Abbott for quite some time.Fans feared that her lack of screen time indicated that the character would eventually be written out of the CBS soap by being shipped off to Miami and that day has come. Lola will soon say goodbye to her brother Rey and take off to work her magic with food in the city where her mother resides. Lola was a breath of fresh air for viewers who were tired of Kyle and Summer and Kola fans wanted the marriage between the two to work out.
Once Kyle and Lola divorced the writers did not seem to know what to do with the beautiful Calle. At first it looked as if there were residual feelings between Kola and a slim chance they might get back together. Next the broken hearted chef slept with Kyle’s cousin and Summer’s ex Theo but the relationship went nowhere.Thetr were rumors she might hook up with Noah Newman or that she and Elena might discover they were more than friends.None of this happened and Lola remained a listening ear for the problems of others.
Many of those who watch THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS complained on social media about Calle’s characterslways wearing her work uniform and being stuck in the kitchen.Every time Lola was missing she was said to be in Miami on business or visiting family. Then news came that Sasha Calle was going to make history by being the first Latino female to portray Supergirl when she got the role in the new DC Universe film THE FLASH. Fans were overjoyed but there were also haters who believed Supergirl should remain blonde haired and blue eyed.
THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS did not develop the character of Lola Rosales and left her hanging as they have done to other popular Genoa City residents. Sasha Calle never complained, accepted her situation and quietly auditioned for and won a historic role. Supergirl was first introduced in 1959 as the Kryptonian Kara Zor-El, and she originally took on the human name "Linda Lee." Two years later, in 1961, she was adopted by the Danvers family and her surname was changed to reflect her new family.
Some of those who oppose Calle as Supergirl believe she should portray an original Latino super hero the same way Chadwick Boseman became The Black Panther rather than changing the identity of a super hero who was scripted as a white male. Y&R viewers are simply happy that Calle will now have a role she can sink her teeth into. The actress taking off her apron and donning a cape is the stuff rags to riches stories are made of. It’s not clear if Sasha is completely washing her hands of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS or if she might return someday.
Her character Lola will tell her brother Ray that she is not leaving Genoa City for good. Lola adds that she had left enough recipes for Society to run without her which sounds temporary but everything will hinge on the success of THE FLASH which premiered November 4, 2022. In addition to Calle as Supergirl, the movie also stars Ben Affleck as Batman / Bruce Wayne, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen / The Flash, Michael Keaton as Batman / Bruce Wayne, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Kiersey Clemons, as Iris West, Maribel Verdi as Nora Allen, and Rudy Mancuso whose character has yet to be named.

On THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS Lola had been very close to Abby Newman but the two seem to have grown apart. At one point Lola’s brother Arturo and her sister in law Mia were in Genoa City, and her parents were in a few episodes. Once she leaves for Miami, her older brother Rey will be the lone member of the Rosales family in town. Be on the lookout for updates related to bothe THE FLASH as well as THE YOUNG AND YHE RESTLESS.
