Red Death Review: "Hear No Evil"
Red Death's villainous supersuit appears for the first time during the final moments of episode 9.02

Entering today, the big high I received from the previous week's final season opener of The Flash had slowed down a bit. Then the 8PM hour drew close, and it all came back again. In case you (somehow) missed it, Barry Allen will have one final Big Bad to deal with: Red Death. In the comics, Red Death is an evil version of Batman, but in the Arrowverse, the Red Death who will plague The Flash is actually an evil version of Batwoman, and will be played by Javicia Leslie.
The villainess' first appearance of the final season came during the tail end of the season premiere, when she was revealed as being in league with Captain Boomerang and made an ominous vow involving The Flash. In this episode, there's not really that much to report, but there are vital key parts to discuss. For one, Red Death has another cohort in the form of The Fiddler, and secondly, the word "Rogues" was used, staying true to that comic history. In Red Death's first appearance of the episode, she browbeats Fiddler for failing in her mission, though it's quite vague until the very last moment.
Hartley Rathaway was involved, as he was hellbent on revenge on Fiddler for killing his significant other, though Flash revealed that Fiddler's victims were all alive, they were just trapped in an alternate prison, though they were rescued by the pair. Even so, Boomerang appears and Fiddler states that they "got what the came for." Turns out, what they were after was Hartley's gauntlets, and they were used to release Red Death. So it took only two episodes for us to see Red Death in her evil supersuit, and after speeding off, the villainess cackles and vows to make The Flash and Central City pay for crossing her.

So that's that, another small sample of Red Death, but very fruitful. We saw the villainess in her outfit for the first time, and we get the added bonus of an evil laugh and a maniacal vow. Very shortly after I finished my recap of Red Death's debut, I found this very clear photo of Javicia Leslie in her villainous attire; a behind-the-scenes shot with fellow cast member Danielle Nicolet, who plays Cecile Horton on The Flash. In addition to looking very killer in that suit, the pic also shows that evil Batwoman has a white streak in her hair, which is an absolutely awesome touch.
Now as we know, Bruce Wayne/Batman went to the dark side due to madness over his Robins being killed one by one, as well as an obsessive desire to obtain Barry Allen's speed. Regarding the Arrowverse's Red Death, it's been stated that a different backstory will be told when it comes to Ryan Wilder's heel turn and her transformation into the insanely villainous Red Death. I have a feeling I will definitely love this "villainess origin story," especially when Javicia Leslie finally appears on-screen as this deliciously wicked character.
Episode 9.02, "Hear No Evil," aired on The CW on February 15, 2023. According to IMDB, Javicia Leslie's first official appearance as Red Death will occur next week. Though I have loved the ominous voice (especially since it shows the depts of Red Death's insanity), it will be absolutely epic to watch Leslie act villainous on-screen for the first time. I just know she'll kill it; she's amazing in everything I've seen her in.
