My Review of "Wreck: Season 1"
Sort of like TV show Sex Education but a murder mystery on a boat.

Wreck: Season 1 came out back in 2022 and it's an oddball of a TV show. It's definitely geared toward the young adult demographic but the rest of adults can still enjoy this. There's some fun to be had in this but I don't know if everyone will be totally on board with this one.
The show starts off with a murder. It's mysterious but there's a purpose to this. A few months later the victim's brother, Jamie, gets on board the same ship. His mission is to find out what happened to his sister and bring the murderer to justice. That's not going to be so easy because there's a lot of debauchery and craziness going on this boat all the time.
On Jamie's journey he meets up with a friend named Vivian. She works on the ship kind of gets swept up with this murder mystery when Jamie tells her all about it. There are a few other colleagues that help as well. There's Cormac who is the identity in which Jamie is stealing so that he can safely board the ship. Then there's Olly who is Jamie's mysterious love interest throughout the season.
Each episode gets increasingly weird and crazy at the same time. We have more absurd murders that happen on the ship and it seems that everyone is oblivious to the circumstances that they're in. They'll also discover new things about the ship that helps in the understanding of the murder.
When things start to get revealed later on in the series it is a pretty big twist that I wasn't expecting but it does make for some fun television. It is pretty wild but it kind of still fits the branding of the show.
The show is fairly short and could be devoured in a matter of a weekend but I found that the show had a bit of a slow start. That's to be expected with new TV shows though. We have to get introduced to the characters and their intricacies. Though, this show adds the element of learning the world around them as well as the characters. This was a little bit of a chore at first but payoff works out.
There are some genuinely funny scenarios throughout this show but it is not for kids. Much of the show deals with the debauchery of the crew so you will have some nudity, profanity and some violence that some may not find so entertaining. I have to give it props for sticking to it's guns with some of their decisions. Not entirely my choice of options but it feels like their creative choice.
I admit that there were a few times where I droned off a bit while watching this show. It's not exactly my cup of tea but I can see how people can really enjoy this. They do a good job in keeping the mystery logical and comprehensive. Though that last twist isn't something you could possibly anticipate so I felt that was kind of a cop out. Then again because of this ending, it opens up the possibility of sequels for future episodes in further seasons.
Overall, there was some enjoyment to this show but it's not my cup of tea. I have to be fair because it was a properly and even cleverly thought out story that works. Again I think this show was made specific for certain demographic and I kind of felt out of the loop for this one. That's why I have to give this show a 6 out of 10. I would have given this less but I can understand the entertainment factor others would get with this.
