My Review of "Predator: Killer of Killers"
This was surprisingly entertaining movie. I think they could have made it into a TV series.

Predator: Killer of Killers recently came out on stream from Hulu. I'm surprised at how much fun this one was. They could have extended it into a TV series had they wanted to but I'm glad they were able to contain it into a single movie. If you're a fan of the franchise this is definitely something you have to check out.
The movie starts out with some sort of Predator proverb. They reiterate that this race of aliens is after a powerful prey to hunt. This is when we see yet another alien ship go to earth but this time in the 9th century. We see what seem like Vikings headed by a woman named Ursa. She's a badass leader hellbent on revenge.
As we see her story progress we learn more about why she's doing what she's doing. There's a whole bunch of things that happen and this results in her being captured by the alien race.
This movie then jumps time to 17th century Japan where there are two brothers vying for the acceptance of their father. However, their father is a cruel man and quite domineering. He has the two brothers fight for dominance over his approval. It's pretty messed up stuff but this story is pretty cool as well. Again something eventually happens in order for the aliens to abduct their next victim.
We eventually get to Torres of the 20th century. He's been kind of a loose end that has a ton of drive. In a way, he's kind of the most relatable character of the three. He's living during world war two and has been drafted. His story is pretty fun but for all different reasons. Eventually he of all people gets abducted by the aliens as well.
Basically this kind of harkens back to the movie Predators but flipped up a bit. I loved that other movie and I liked that they brought this aspect back to the franchise. You're also going to have to throw a lot of logic out the door while watching this movie. There are quite a few moments where you're happy you're watching a cartoon because it would be even harder to digest if they did this live action. Then again a movie about Predators isn't going to be realistic at all.
What you're here for is the fun ultra violence and cool story telling to build each of the characters. Each character has a pretty badass background. They're self-made people that don't take crap from anyone. That even goes for Torres. You want to see them succeed. The fact that they tell you their backstories so well makes you want them to succeed even more. It's a great formula and I'm glad they didn't screw it up.
The animation seems quite familiar. I've seen it in a lot of different franchises so I wasn't so thrilled about that. I was hoping this franchise would have it's own identity with it's own style of artwork. Again, I'm not a fan of jittery animation but I guess it's in nowadays. Still the fight scenes were done very well and quite violent I might add.
This movie is great for fans of the franchise because it expands the lore of the franchise. I guess it kind of retells the story of the franchise as well. You'd kind of question why certain individuals aren't there from past movies if this is the new storyline. We're still early in this new take on the franchise though. From what I see, it is a lot of fun and I can't wait to see more.
Overall, I had a great time with this movie. A lot more fun than I expected from a straight to streaming movie. Then again Prey was the same thing. They divided up the movie into character sections and in a way I felt they could have expanded. This could very well have been a TV series instead of a standalone movie. I loved the action and I thought that each of their stories were pretty cool. It all culminates into a really fun ride. I have to give this one a 8 out of 10. I definitely recommend this movie and will likely watch it again.
