I have many unpopular opinions about film. In others, I have spoke about my discontent with the film "Titanic" and why I am against people who think Megan Fox is just 'a dumb [insert female slur here]'. I have spoken about various unpopular opinions about films that people normally view as universally amazing and I still have some that I want to roll off.

I am going to say again that all of these are simply opinions and they are not something that you should lose sleep over. If you have an opinion then you have the right to express it. Just know that whatever you express will probably be subjected to scrutiny and criticism. If you cannot take that then you will probably be better off keeping your opinions to yourself.

Let's now move on to having a look at the three unpopular opinions I have for today. I guess we are on opinion number fifteen through to seventeen now, I think. So let us get started...

My 3 Unpopular Opinions About Film

The first time I watched "Pulp Fiction" - I hated it

When I was a teenager, I thought "Pulp Fiction" was the film that middle-aged men watched in their mother's basement. It seemed like it was edgy and culturally referencing just for the sake of it. To be honest, this is the reverse psychology of edgy teen being edgy teen by not liking things that other people like. I watched it a couple more times after that and though I can admit that it is not my type of film, I definitely appreciate its smartly referenced ideologies, films and experiences a lot more than I did when I was a teenager.

It took me a long time to learn to love Citizen Kane

"Citizen Kane" was a film I watched when I was sixteen and I'm not going to lie, I thought it was boring as hell. The fact that now it is in my top thirty favourite films ever means that something changed along the way. That was the fact that I began reading more books about film in which case studies would take place and so, it showed me that this film was really worth while and ultimately, it became one of my favourites. That's exactly how it went no questions asked.

I once skipped school to...

Remember when I said I didn't like "Pulp Fiction" when I was about fourteen? Yeah, me too. Well, when I was thirteen I also managed to skip school on the day that "Inglorious Basterds" came out on DVD just to go and buy it at the store. It is an unpopular opinion to my parents and also to my teachers, but I thought it was pretty cool at the time and even if I were to go back in time about eleven years' or so, I would not change a damn thing. It was a brilliant experience and honestly, that was the first time I really knew that yes, this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life - whatever the hell that is.

Conclusion

When it comes to films, there may be a ton of unpopular opinions I have but there are also a ton of things I love. Honestly, I think that when it comes to unpopular opinions in film people are normally afraid to discuss it out of fear of looking like less-than or looking stupid. But I look stupid already so there’s really no point in attempting even further to cover it up. However, when we talk more openly about our unpopular opinions, I think we can all appreciate films for the better. But I found this one person in university who told me they did not like ‘The Godfather”, “Goodfellas” or any other gangster drama. If you’re like this then please, above anything else, don’t say it in front of me. When it really comes down to it though, if we want to change the status quo of films just being good because people say so and everyone going along with it, we need to express ourselves a little bit more. And that’s it. That’s all I have to say.
