Michael Corinthos: Reasons why he deserves to and probably will fall flat on his face

Michael has changed

Michael Corinthos used to be a beloved character and a peacemaker in Port Charles. Right now, however, he is not popular with General Hospital fans and some viewers say he deserves a bit of karma to come his way At one point it looked as if Michael was poised to walk in the authority of being both a Quartermaine and a Corinthos and become a respected man about town. Unless the writers make some big changes Michael will fall short of living up to either name. There are a number of reasons he could fall from his imagined seat of power and 5 of them are listed below.

Sonny always defeats his enemies

Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) has triumphed over his every enemy since 1993 so why should things change now? It's possible but highly unlikely that the writers will have his son take him down. Michael has taken on a fight that was never his and if pushed Sonny could squash him like a bug. Michael is naive and does not really hve what it takes to get the job done.

On Tuesday Sonny found out that Michael replaced one of his employees and cause problems with his coffee business so he knows his son is making good on his threats. He should know, however, better than anyone that Sonny will not take this lying down and things could get ugly.

Michael is a rookie

Michael is not a mobster and neither is he a true Quartermaine business mogul. He imagines himself to be a powerful force to be reckoned with but he will never be as ruthless as the man who raised him. Neither does he have the cunning and wit of his birth father’s family. Michael knew Sonny murdered his biological father AJ Quartermaine (Sean Kanan) and yet he remained loyal. Michael knows that the Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) battle is his mothers but instead of taking the lead of Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) he has decided to fight on her behalf. Drew Cain (Cameron Matthison) has warned Michael about going after Sonny and using ELQ to do so but being a rookie Michael is not listening and believes he knows best. He hired Dex Evan Hofer) to ruin Sonny’s business and this will come back to bite him big time.

He chose the Corinthos clan over the Quartermaines

Michael once became disillusioned with his adoptive dad and changed his last name to Quartermaine. He later went back to using Corrinthos and gave that name to his son Wiley (Viron Weaver) with Quartermaine as a middle name. Now Michael wants to hurt Sonny but he could have saved himself the drama. All he had to do was make a clean break and remain far away from the mobster the first time around. Now he is calling his dad a criminal and his decision to get revenge is going to come back and bite him.

Valentine and Ned are Sharks

Michael is green when it comes to corporate ruthlessness and believes he and Drew have everything under control where ELQ is concerned. Meanwhile Valentin Cassadine ( James Patrick Stewart ) is working with Ned Quartermaine ( Wally Kurth) to convince him that he is being set out to pasture. Both Ned and Valentin are sharks and could eat Michael alive if they team up and he would deserve it.

Nina is Willow's biological mom

The truth that Nina is Willow Tait’s ((Kaitlyn MacMullen) biological mother will eventually come to light. Michael will realize that as he was defending his mother’s honor she was keeping this big secret. Both Nina and Willow will be blown away by this revelation and Michael will be in the middle of these two and his mother as they deal with the fallout. Initially Carly, her son and the mother of her grandson might be indifferent towards one another but feelings change and the blame game will begin.. This wil be a fight Michael will be powerless to control and he could become estranged from his mother again and it may even cause problems with Willow.
