Maurice Benard's son Joshua returns to General Hospital

General Hospital: Like father like son

If the teenager who was talking to Joslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) on Friday's episode of General Hospital seemed familiar it is for two specific reasons. He has appeared on the ABC soap years ago and he looks just like his famous dad. Joshua James Benard is the youngest son of Maurice Benard who portrays Sonny Corinthos and his wife Paula. Joshua first appeared on the series when he portrayed a young Sonny during a flashback on November 12, 2018. He says he believes acting is his calling just like his father so he has continued in the craft.

The younger Benard has said he wanted to work with his father and now they are on the same soap. Joshua returned to General Hospital on March 16, 2022 as Adam, a college classmate who gave Joss a hard time about the sex tape. On May 1, the senior Benard Tweeted that his son would soon be returning and on Friday the 17-year-old was back in Genoa City.

In addition to General Hospital Joshua had a role in The Ghost and the Whale in 2017 and portrayed a teenager in 2021 on Station 19. He is a musical composer in Passions (2022) which stars his father as a priest. The elder Benard says he made the film over two decades ago but it was never released. He allowed his talented son who plays the guitar and piano to update the music so that it would be relevant today.

Passions is a film short where a youthful Maurice looks very much as Joshua does today. The plot revolves around a troubled woman with a gun who enters the private chambers of a priest. Her confession goes awry snd her mood begins shifting back and forth between anguish and anger. After she makes a startling revelation the priest is forced to face his own regrets. During a recent interview with Soap Hub Joshua said the following regarding the ABC soap.

"I was 13, and it was the first time I was on a show where I wasn’t an extra. I was playing a main character…It felt like, ‘This is where I belong and this is what I’m supposed to do."

Adam has possibilities on General Hospital

Adam ran into Joss and apologized for disrespecting her and she accepted his apology. He said no one should have violated her privacy and he would not like it if someone did the same to his sister. Nothing is known about Adam, not even his last name. Neither Benard has said anything about Joshua returning but if he does there are several possibilities

He could be a familiar face around the PCU campus who shows up every now and then or he might become a more permanent fixture in Port Charles. There is going to be big fallout when Joss finds out Cameron Webber (Will Lipton) kept Spencer Cssadine 's (Nicholas Chaves) secret about secretly plotting to take down Esme Prince Avery Kristen Pohl).

Joss could break up with Cam and Adam might be her rebound. General Hospital might also find a way to have the two Benard men in scenes together. Joshua told Soap Hub that he really wants to continue on the soap and hop s to work with his father.
