Always have faith in yourself.

Stage 284 opens its doors to the show-hopping musical Legally Blonde. Elle Woods chases her ex-boyfriend to Harvard University to show him just how serious she is. Throughout this venture, Elle learns more about herself than she expected to.

Oh my God, you guys, Stage 284’s Legally Blonde is a fabulous show! My cheeks hurt from smiling at the array of talent and dedication. The cast and crew of Stage 284’s Legally Blonde should be proud of themselves for this radiant jewel of passion and spirit.

Meaghan DelGenio succeeded in a magnificent undertaking in the role of Elle Woods. DelGenio encapsulated the heart, spirit, and lively energy of the character. Her vocal range is extraordinary as she belts ‘So Much Better’ like a pro. Elle is a role model to all women, teaching them to look outside the box at the bigger picture.

The entire cast sparkles marvelous ranges. From Koda Mehalba's endearing portrayal of Emmett Forrest to Andy LeBlanc's suave (and comical) rendition of Warner Huntington III, this list goes on. I liked the nuances of Kalyn Kosh’s performance as Vivienne Kensington, adding subtle touches. David Saunders is remarkable as Professor Callahan.

Amanda Raponi is another tremendous highlight as the sassy Paulette Boafonte. Audiences applauded her beautiful rendition of ‘Ireland.’ And I won’t forget about two four-legged stars, Oscar as Bruiser and Tessie as Rufus. The audience cooed each time these cuties were onstage.

Every performance is a testament to the ensemble's skill and camaraderie. As I say, no small part exists in the theater. Legally Blonde enforces that definition to a top degree. From the ensemble of Delta Nu girls, Harvard students, and a sauve mailman, the theater is all about challenging yourself which this vivacious cast succeeds.

As tech members described it, the whole stage is pinkified! Stage 284’s technical elements soared to new levels. The technical crew is hard at work changing sets, light cues, and sound. The set construction is astounding with pink stairs and revolving sets into a courtroom or a nail salon.

The costumes are incredible! Supplied by Amanda Allen and Cheryl Lynne Goolsby, costumes are the most essential part of Legally Blonde. Without them, Elle Woods wouldn’t transform into 14 different costume changes throughout the show!

Get ready to dance in your seats (I certainly was) as the songs in Legally Blonde will stay in your head for days (or months). Performed by a live orchestra, songs include the lively ‘Bend and Snap,’ ‘Positive,’ and the audience’s favorite, ‘Gay or European.’

The message in Legally Blonde can’t go unnoticed. Not only did Katie Clarke-Robertson want audiences to have the best time ever but to learn an important message. Legally Blonde is a powerful story about staying true to yourself.

For Clarke and DelGenio, this production of Legally Blonde has a profound backstory. After canceling their production of Legally Blonde at Endicott College in March 2020, their hope never stopped. That dedication brought their dreams to the stage - now finished. Always have faith in yourself.

Everyone had the time of their lives. Audiences cheered, applauded, and laughed. Being present for this moment is something to cherish. The instant the lights turn pink, audiences are in for one of the best times at Stage 284’s incredibly exuberant production of Legally Blonde.

Tickets for Legally Blonde at Stage 284 are limited, but if you can, purchase a ticket. This is a show you don’t want to miss. Legally Blonde performs on the pink stage of Stage 284 through March 24.
