My Top 6 Hulu Binges
Netflix is virtually synonymous with "streaming service," but it is by no means not the only one out there. I don't even have Netflix, but I do have Hulu. For $7.99/mo you can watch with limited commercials (between 0 and 4 per break, depending on the popularity of the show) or $11.99/mo for no commercials. (You can also add on HBO or Showtime packages.) I like Hulu better than Netflix for watching TV shows because I can watch most as they air rather than waiting until the season is finished and Netflix to pick it up. I can usually also binge watch old seasons until I am caught up. Here are some of my favorites on Hulu right now.

DC Universe Roku Review
DC Universe officially launched on 9/15, Batman day! DC Universe is currently offered at two different price points, $7.99 a month, or $74.99 for a one year subscription which is a savings of 20% versus the monthly plan. When DC Universe was first announced during Comic-Con, they introduced a plan for $74.99 for 15-months instead of the standard $74.99 12-month plan. I was a little worried placing $74.99 down on an app that still had not been released, but I took the leap. I figured $74.99 for 15 months turns out to be $4.99 a month, a savings of $3.00 a month over the standard monthly plan, what a deal.

'Avengers 4'
All hope isn't lost as the Earth's Mightiest Heroes prepare for their rematch against the all-powerful and badass Titan survivor, Thanos (Josh Brolin). In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos's goal was to gather all six infinity stones and wipe out half the world, restoring balance in the universe. Although Thanos succeeded in gathering all six stones, he made a major sacrifice with the murder of his favorite daughter Gamora, also known as the fiercest woman in the galaxy. Having Josh Brolin in the role of Thanos is one of the best casting made in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, other than Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

The Coming of the Final Host: The Story of the Dark Celestials
Four billion years ago, an Alpha Celestial known as The Progenitor crossed paths with a swarm of cosmic insects called the Horde. Becoming infected with these space bugs, the omnipotent space god grew ill and crash landed on the planet that would become Earth. The Progenitor died a slow and painful death, bleeding and vomiting its infected fluids all over the surface of a young Earth. The cosmic vomit mixed with the primordial stew, spawned more of the Horde, as well as creating life on Earth and turning the planet into a treasure trove of super-powered individuals.

'Le Problème D'infiltration' - Everything Is Under Control...
(Translated from French.) "Everything is under control." Those are the words spoken by Louis (Christian Bégin), the protagonist of Robert Morin’s new movie Le Problème D’infiltration, as he’s cooking dinner for his guests. At this specific point in the scene, we’d be inclined to believe him; exchanging jokes and laughs with his friends, Louis is meticulously preparing his meal, a glass of wine on the counter. A perfectly trivial moment; one could mistake this for Bégin’s cooking show, Curieux Bégin. This is only a facade, however, as the full picture Le Problème D’infiltration reveals is one of a man with an unquenchable thirst for control, whose perfect world slowly crumbles around him. A smothering spectacle of madness, Morin’s film, with audacious stylistic choices and a mesmerizing performance from its lead actor, entraps the viewer in an experience as captivating as it is nerve-racking.

'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest' - Review
The general consensus amongst moviegoers is that the first Pirates of the Caribbean film is a wonderfully made, fun adventure flick with great characters, a compelling story, and all the swashbuckling action you'd want in a movie about pirates. However, the consensus goes on to state that the films progressively get worse or, according to some, all of the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels are hot garbage. While I wholeheartedly agree with the mass majority of people regarding their opinions on the first film, as it is my favourite movie ever made, I refused to believe that the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels were bad movies.

Top 5 Second Films in a Speculative Fiction Trilogy
Since The Empire Strikes Back released in theaters, second films in movie trilogies have been some of the most remembered pieces of cinema or the worst. But how come? How can we definitively say the original Star Wars wouldn't have ended with two films instead of three? It didn't happen, but why is the second film more critically successful than the finale, arguably the most popular part of any story? Why are so many second films hailed to be the best of the series, especially when the middle is considered the slowest component and often a victim of lousy sequel syndrome? Looking at you Amazing Spider-Man 2.

'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' - Review
This is my favourite film of all time. That's right, you've heard correctly. A movie based on a Disney theme park attraction is my favourite movie ever made. I have seen this film more times than I can even count and I fall in love with it every single time I watch it. A bit of backstory first. I saw this film in the theatres when I was only 8-years-old and I will never forget it. Not only did I think that this film was one of the longest movies I have ever seen, but I also thought it was one of the scariest and most epic. I loved the swashbuckling adventure filled with sword fights and ship battles with cannons and pirates screaming "Yarg." I loved the romance between Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, I thought Barbossa as the villain was so menacing and scary and of course, I absolutely fell in love with Jack Sparrow. As a kid, this was the biggest adventure I had ever experienced.

Late Review: 'The Fury of a Patient Man'
International cinema can be a hit or miss with movie-goers. It can entice an audience into experiencing a new story from a different perspective. It can also be off-putting to an audience by hitting them with a language barrier or present them with unfamiliar material.

'Rain Man' - Review
Rain Man is one of those movies where it is it always on the "Best Movies of all time" type lists and it always seems to be playing on cable TV every Sunday along with Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile, Gladiator, etc. And I since this summer has been the summer of Tom Cruise movies for me, I decided to keep that going into the fall with Rain Man. It's funny when people around you look at you that certain way when you admit that you haven't seen one of their favourite movies. I got that look from every single person in my family when I mentioned that I had never seen Rain Man before. "Oh, Rain Man is a classic! You have to see it, Brandon!"

My Thoughts on Joaquin Phoenix's Joker
I’ve recently seen some on set photos of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker and to me it looks like they are going for a '66 era look pre-Cesar Romero. Now, I love the old '66 Batman to death. The campiness is just great all around. In fact, Adam West’s Batman is one of my all time faves, aside from Michael Keaton’s portrayal. As far as the main villain for most of Batman’s TV/movie tenure, the Joker has always had the classic green hair, white make-up, red lips and the classic purple suit nothing more nothing less, it portrayed a look that at times looked playful and at other times it looked down right menacing! When you see a clown you automatically think that it will be someone whose playful looking to cheer you up, instead of kill you! To get a rise out of someone. But that’s just what the joker does, he is a person who at any time feels that he has to get Batman’s attention and what better way, at least to him, is to hold up a huge building with tons of people in it. Because sometimes the Joker loves to be over the top! Like he is the master of the game that he has committed to play.
