Kelly Monaco has a new project

When Sam McCall was killed off on General Hospital in October 2024, fans were curious about what was coming next for her portrayer. There were rumors that Kelly Monaco might join the cast of The Young and the Restless, but this did not happen. Now, six months later, according to Instagram, the soap vet has a new project.

She is following in the footsteps of former castmate Maurice Benard, (Sonny Corinthos) who hosts the successful Podcast State of Mind. Benard has said that he wishes he could be a host full-time, leading some fans to believe he might retire. Now Kelly, and actress Shanna Moaker, are producing their own Podcast, Bad Bunnies.

Former Playboy bunnies unite

For those unfamiliar with Moakler, she appeared in television series like Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Joey, Due South, Pacific Blue, Time Cop, and Jake in Progress. Along with her former husband, Travis Barker, she starred in the MTV reality series Meet the Barkers.

Acting is not the only thing the two women have in common. Both posed nude in Playboy Magazine. Monaco was Playmate of the Month in April 1997, and Moakler was Playmate of the Month in December 2001. Soap spoilers say the Podcast name reflects their having been Playboy Bunnies. Monaco gave the following statement about her new venture.

Bad Bunnies will be "Unfiltered. Untamed. Unapologetic. We're bringing you Hollywood secrets, wild stories, pop culture tea, and real talk—nothing is off-limits!"

This sounds like Kelly and Shanna might push limits and boudaries without the restraints and censorship of televison so fans should be on guard.

Sam's slow decline in Port Charles

General Hospital viewers were stunned when Monaco was fired after portraying Sam for 21 years. The soap vet has stated that her character's downfall came after her BFF Billy Miller was fired as Drew Cain in August 2021.

The actress was outspoken in her anger that Miller lost his job and said, "More to come" regarding his dismissal. She didn't divulge the details surrounding his job loss, but after he died, his mother tweeted that both Billy and Kelly were treated badly by the ABC soap.

Sam's personality was drastically changed

GH executives said Sam's death was storyline-driven, but Monaco says they dismantled her character until she could not recognize her.Fans were stunned that a cast member wo spent two decades on the ABC soa was dismissed in such manner. Sam was a grifter, con artist, and adventurer who was also a private detective. She was feisty and could handle dangerous situations.

By the time she was killed by Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), three years after Miller's exit, Ms. McCall was more like a 1950s housewife without the benefit of marriage. She and her children Scott Cain (Ella Romacieri) and Danny Morgan (Ashton Antonyzen) lived with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zampragna) and his son Rocco Falconeri ( Finn Carr).

They made blended family life seem so easy, and ironically, she died just after Dante proposed. The idea that the writers deliberately stripped the character of what made her unique and then killed her sounds unbelievable, but viewers watched it play out on their TV screens.

When and where can fans watch Bad Bunnies?

There is no information about when the premiere episode of Bad Bunnies will be available or what platform it will appear on. General Hospital fans of Kelly Monaco should be looking for updates because she said the Podcast is "coming soon." Also, be watching for spoilers, and breaking news, related to what is coming next for Port Charles residents.
