Constantine 2005

I absolutely loved the Keanu Reeves Constantine film and although Matt Ryan is doing an amazing job with the character as we speak, we can never have too much John Constantine. My biggest gripe with the film other than the obvious of John and Chaz not being British, I felt like the film was a little limited being most of the supernatural revolved around just Christian mythology. However I do understand since the main plot of the film revolves around the spawn of the devil and The Spear of Destiny. I did love all the visual effects and the casting was superb. Here's my take on what I'd like to see in a John Constantine film.

My pitch

One of John's greatest failures is losing Astra's soul and trapping her in hell for all eternity. Since her body has no soul, she's being kept in a hospital labeled a comatose patient. Word gets around to Chaz that Lucifer has officially left hell. He goes to fin John passed out at a bar with dried blood in his face. After waking up John and telling him the news. With the throne of hell vacant, whomever sits on the throne instantly becomes the ruler of hell and more powerful than any earthly being. Looking down at his wrist and seeing a bracelet with his name on it they head to the hospital. This is where John attempts to save Astra's soul, however in order to save her from hell he needs to go to hell as well. So; John's soul enters hell, leaving his body behind with Chaz to watch over both of their bodies. Now over the course of the film we'll follow John as he has to dig deeper and deeper into the depths of hell to retrieve Astra. Meanwhile still in the real world Chaz is doing all he can to protect the bodies of John and Astra. As we get closer and closer to Astra, the horrors become worse and worse. Because of this John truly needs to pull out all the stops, all the tricks he's got up his sleeve and make deals where he can. However what does keep him grounded is a little bracelet with John's name on it. So no matter how hard the literal demons are trying to break John's spirit and get him to lose hope on rescuing Astra.

Finale

For the finale; when John arrives to the throne to sit on it and free both his and Astra's soul he's met by a plethora of DC villains waiting for him. Trigon, Atrocitus, Vandal Savage, and Antone Arcane are waiting for him just to name a few. Against all odds, even though John spent the last hour and a half (of the film) just getting beaten down physically and mentally, John being John always has one trick up his sleeve. Obviously even at his best John knows he can't beat these villains one on one let alone in a free for all, however they all have something in common. Each one of these villains for one reason or another HATES John. So instead of attempting to make alliances or flat out hiding, he secretly puts a hex on the villains. He makes them believe they're John, so they end up attacking each other. Meanwhile the Angel of Death Azrael comes to John's aide. Azrael is still a firm believer in maintaining balance between good and evil; instead of evil running rampant through the multiverse. Azrael helps John so he is able to slip away and eventually take control of the throne. John then imprisons all the villains and finally saves Astra's soul. They return to their bodies back on Earth. With everyone equally exhausted, they just pull get into Chaz's taxi and head home. Then once home they all fall asleep, finally being able to truly rest.

Now that you've made it to the end, here is your TL:DR (Too Long, Didn't Read). I'm mixing Dante's Inferno with Constantine film. I hope you appreciated this very rough draft pitch, and if you liked my work please feel free to read my many other articles and leave a heart. I am always welcoming of suggestions, feedback, or constructive criticism. Lastly if you feel so inclined to leave a heart or drop a tip I would immensely appreciate it however neither is by any means required.
