Jimmy Walker from Good Times will appear on The Bold and the Beautiful May 5 and 6
JJ will make his debut in daytime television next month

Jimmy Walker is going to the soaps
Jimmy Walker gained his claim to fame on the CBS sitcom Good Times (1974-1979) as James Evans Jr. AKA JJ. The actor was recently seen on the set of the CBS soap The Bold and the Beautiful during their 9000 episode that aired lastweek. It was assumed by some that actor Walker was simply a fan who wanted to watch a B&B taping but he was actually taping his own scenes that will air on May 5 and 6.
No details have been given on what role the actor and comedian will play or which characters he will interact with, in the world of the Logans, Forresters, and Spencers. The Bold and the Beautiful often has celebs from shows like The Bachelor become a part of the action on the soap. Rapper Lil Nas X and late-night host James Corden both appeared last week as a busboy and waiter at Il Giardino restaurant where they listened in on a conversation between Hope Logan (Anikka Noelle) and Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan).
Jimmy Walker before and after Good Times
Walker was born James Carter Walker Jr. on June 25, 1947, in Brooklyn New York, and was raised in the Bronx. He began his career in standup in 1969. His talent was noticed when he performed on Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in and the Jack Parr Show which led to his role as JJ and his signature phrase of "Dyn-O-Mite! While JJ was a teenager still in high school Walker was 26 when he first appeared on the series and only 6 years younger than John Amos who portrayed his TV dad James Evans Sr.
Although JJ got laughs from the audience both Amos and Esther Role who portrayed Florida Evans did not enjoy their TV son acting as they saw it "buffoonish". Amos left Good Times and his character was killed off. Role also left but later returned and remained until the series ended. Walker is said to have been offended because Rolle and Amos disapproved of his character and his growing popularity.
Walker was said to not have gotten along with Rolle on or off the screen and was the only member of the Good Times cast who did not attend her funeral. After the series ended Walker continued his career in standup and appeared on a number of television shows including Fantasy Island, Everybody Hates Chris, The Drew Sanders Show, and In the House. He also had a cameo in the film Big Money Rustlas and was also in Airplane and Airplane II.

Save the dates May 5 and 6
The Bold and the Beautiful is certainly equal opportunity when it comes to having controversial figures on the show. Lil Nas X has caught flack for what some consider to be satanic images and when he came out as gay he was accused by some of not being sincere and accused of making the announcement for publicity. James Corden has caught heat because he is a straight man and portrayed a gay man in the film Prom and Walker's beliefs have brought negativity his way.
The comedian/actor described himself politically as a "realist independent" and stated that he opposed affirmative action, saying that it had outlived its usefulness. He also said that he was against gay marriage on moral grounds, but believed its legalization should be passed, stating it was not worth fighting against.
Be on the lookout for updates related to what character Jimmy Walker will play on The Bold and the Beautiful and how he will interact with the regular cast. If you are a fan of Good Times you can catch episodes on several streaming services as well as retro television stations.
