Invented Original Characters: Buibui

Growing up my dream job was to be a comic book artist/writer. But with very little artistic talent that dream died pretty quickly. Now I do my best to bring my characters to life using apps like factory of heroes, swordmaker, armormaker, you doodle and photo cutout. They don't always turn out looking very good but I get more excited about the concepts and stories behind the characters than how well I can make the character look good. Sometimes my characters are from cultures I am not a part of because I think it fits their story or other aspects about them. I am not a cultural expert but at the very least I hope no one is upset by me using aspects of cultures I'm not a part of and find interesting. That said below is my original character Buibui.

An ancient spider like vampire from Kenya, he does not remember his original name. He's simply adopted the name Buibui, which is a Swahili word for spider and what some locals call him. His ancestors were members of the mosquito vampire sect. They were evil sorcerers who chose to consume the blood of other people and model their spells and culture after mosquitos. Later generations of mosquito vampires who were born into needing to drink human blood instead of choosing to became ashamed and disillusioned with their heritage. They renounced the magic of mosquito vampires and began the sect of spider vampires. Although they needed human blood to survive they refused to hunt them. Instead they began getting human blood indirectly by eating the mosquito vampires who had recently fed on humans. Unlike the mosquito vampires who are typically some of the most human looking vampires, spider vampires have evolved to have grotesque physiology. Most were nearly 7 feet tall, muscle bound with permanent spider like mouths. This new sect was successfully eliminating a great deal of the mosquito vampire population but around the 15th century culling by European bat vampires drove the mosquito and spider sects into hiding. Both sects suffered greatly in this era and by the time the bat vampire's influence was weakened by modern vampire hunters, Buibui was thought to be the last of his kind. So as mosquito vampire numbers and attacks increased Buibui also reemerged.

Buibui is one of the most physically powerful vampires throughout history. Even in the daytime or the cold when his powers are weaker he has superhuman strength, climbing and jumping ability. In most cases he can very easily overpower mosquito vampires in one on one fights and devour them with his human/spider hybrid mouth.

He also has extra sensory perception and is hyper aware of his surroundings making him especially adept in combat. Finally he can also use "web magic" conjuring spider like webbing to trap foes, to create melee weapons or even drag mosquito vampires capable of flight out of the sky.

Buibui's ultimate goal is to rid the world of all evil vampires and as part of that he has taught the people of his region that the mosquito vampires are typically weak to gold and African species of lavender plants. However, Buibui is also weak to those items so he mostly lives in isolation and keeps his guard up around humans. If he can find a cure for his need for human blood during his quest to fight evil vampires he would be content with living on, but if he is successful in ridding the world of evil vampires he would rather die than give in to feeding on people. However that reality seems far away because even if he could rid the world of the mosquito vampire sect he would set his sights on other powerful sects in Asia, Europe and the Americas.
