If you loved Schitt's Creek, here's your next watch list
"I would hardly call myself an expert on this subject, and, by subject, I mean genuine human emotion, so I am going to tell you what I know." - David Rose

If you're like me, currently mourning the loss of our beloved Rose family and their endless parade of glorious mishaps, these movies and television shows might be just what you didn't know you were looking for. My formula for what to watch next is simple - just like no one comes to the party for the same reason (some for the music, some for that one guy/girl, some for the food), everyone has something different that keeps them coming back to their favorite show or movie. Just think about which specific elements you loved the most - was it the acting, the dialogue, the scenery or the general themes? This time I've done all the work for you and divvied up some recommendations for fans of the sleeper hit Schitt's Creek, so just sit back, grab a bottle of your favorite wine and assorted cheeses, and prepare for some seriously side-splitting entertainment.

If you loved Schitt's Creek for Johnny and Moira Rose, you'll love: A Mighty Wind
A truly outlandish comedy in the same Schitt's Creek style of farcical, dry humor, A Mighty Wind is a delicious spoonful of comedic dessert starring our own Johnny and Moira, or rather Eugene Levy and Catherine O'hara. For those missing their stellar comedic timing and side-splitting banter, look no further than their team up here as the fictional folk-music duo "Mitch & Mickey". Alongside a cast of deadpan humor heavyweights including Jane Lynch (Glee), Parker Posey (Dazed and Confused) and Fred Willard (Modern Family), Levy and O'hara roll out the laughs as they bumble their way through preparing for a folk-band reunion concert filmed in the style of a 'mockumentary'.

If you loved Schitt's Creek for David and Alexis Rose, you'll love: Will & Grace
Though this long-running sitcom might seem an obvious choice, those on the fence are encouraged to take the plunge if you're having David and Alexis withdrawals. Though a bit watered down for prime time network television, Will and Grace's relationship is filled with the same catty banter, misadventures and heartwarming friendship. Set against the backdrop of New York City, Will Truman (Eric McCormack, Perception) is a serious and tightly-wound attorney whose best friend since college, Grace Adler (Debra Messing, The Mysteries of Laura), is the free-spirited interior designer who helps pepper his life with a David and Alexis brand of drama, comedy and surprises. Though Will is straight-laced and modest about his status as a gay man in a hetero-man's world, his and Grace's good friend, Jack (Sean Hayes, Cats & Dogs), is not, cuing genuine hilarity and never-ending one liners. This incredible cast is rounded out by the scene-stealing Karen (Megan Mullally, Bob's Burgers), who as Grace's assistant/resident "rich bitch", adds that aloof brand of Moira Rose's 'out-of-touch' comedy, with just as many cocktails and far more R-rated jokes.

If you loved Schitt's Creek for the ensemble cast and their farcical and straight-faced humor, you'll love: This is Spinal Tap
In the same 'mockumentary' style as A Mighty Wind, This is Spinal Tap follows the lives, mishaps, blunders and laughter-tears inducing commentary of the three members of this fictional eighties hair band. Gracing the stage with such songs as "Big Bottom", "Bitch School" and "Gimmie Some Money", they move through the film in the same way the Rose's move through life - with no idea of how hilarious their seriously delivered views on life and all things like it are.

If you loved Schitt's Creek for the heart behind the hilarity, you'll love: Brooklyn Nine-Nine
A 'cop show' that's more about the comical mishaps behind the scenes than the procedural dramas most of us are used to, Brooklyn Nine-Nine will have your face hurting from laughter and heart warmed by good deeds in no time. With an incredibly talented cast held down by Andy Samberg (SNL) and Terry Crewes (White Chicks, The Expendables), every episode is a lesson in the life, love and friendship happening amidst the never-ending crime and comedy of this Brooklyn P.D. Just youtube the scene where Samberg's character Jake Peralta has a lineup of suspects sing along to the Backstreet Boys, and I guarantee you'll be hooked.

If you loved Schitt's Creek for the spoiled, out of touch and endlessly hilarious approach the Roses had toward the daily life of us 'normal people', you'll love: Absolutely Fabulous
This legendary British sitcom follows the lives of publicist Edina Monsoon (Jennifer Saunders) and her outlandish best friend Patsy (Joanna Lumley), a former model and current vodka enthusiast. The two of them stumble, tumble and float their way through a bevy of side-splitting adventures, making even a trip to the grocery store a laughter inducing ordeal. The two remain out of touch with reality, instead surrounding themselves with luxurious shopping sprees and trots around the globe, which somehow always end with either comical disappointment or surprising triumph. Always with a cocktail in hand, they are never without a misunderstanding of how life works for the rest of us, and in doing so, produced five seasons of one of the BBC's most popular series.
