House of the Dragon

Ep.7

By Alexandrea CallaghanPublished about a year ago 3 min read

We are now entering the end of Season 2 of House of the Dragon. Tonight's episode is the penultimate episode of the season and though we know that we are getting seasons 3 and 4 I am relatively concerned how long we are going to drag out this war for. Now at the end of our last episode Seasmoke claimed Adam. Aemond dismissed his mother from the council (lol) and Aegon is awake but now terrified of his brother. Corlys is now serving as Rhaenyra’s hand. Oh and they gave Daemon’s affair with Myseria to Rhaenyra for some reason. They are really determined to ruin my girl's character (not cause she’s gay by the way, I will get into it later).

Alicent is finally getting what she deserves and that’s nice. She is going to have the same scare that she gave Rhaenyra so many years ago. Alicent is on some kind of spiritual camping trip like an idiot.

Adam and Rhaenyra working together fills my heart with so much joy. He deserves status and everything that comes with it and she needs the dragonriders. My girl’s council is just running a muck and they really need to be put in their places. Myseria is the one that makes Rhaenyra realize that bastards are the way to go in her quest for dragonriders. Which feels like common sense but apparently my Rhaenyra (who has bastards herself) is somehow blinded by class lines. Jace needs to reign in the fuck in. He is a smart boy, but he really is just a teenage boy. Jace is really coming at his mother for his parentage. Boy, this is why I hate random, unnecessary book changes. Rhaenys has dark hair in the books so that bastard rumors are never more than that. TV show Rhaenrya is way too nice, the order walking out is ridiculous, I would have fed them to Syrax.

Aemond’s council is finally realizing that Aemond is a little crazy. No one wants to tell him that Seasmoke might have a rider. And no one really wants to tell him anything.

And we are back at Harrenhal with Daemon losing his mind. The Tully’s join him with their army. This Tully kid is really testing Daemon’s sanity. Tully commands the rivermen and he is really challenging Daemon’s patience. Daemon continues to elevate himself in Rhaenyra’s absence but they do recognize their families oaths to my girl. Young Tully is actually quite smart. He punishes Blackwood and we go back to this like silent, tunnel sound of Daemon losing his shit.

Aegon is up on his feet but he is very clearly still very weak and in a lot of pain. I like it. Seeing him in pain seems correct.

Alyn and Adam have quickly become some of my favorite characters. Which I kind of hate because that generally means that bad things are going to happen to them.

My Rhaena is off on her own, presumably to claim the dragon that lives in the vale.

The dragons at Dragonstone both get claimed and we got a group dragon shot which looked so fucking awesome.

Timeline wise we really are getting a day by day, play by play. Almost no time has passed since Viserys’ death and the span of the dance was all of like 6 months. So I am interested to see how they have this paced out for seasons 3 and 4. Because though I agree that there need to be some stiller, quieter moments for character development I do not think that they are writing those moments very well at all. We go into our final episode with new dragonriders, a very scared Aemond, and a very hot and confident Rhaenyra.
