House of the Dragon

Episode 6

By Alexandrea CallaghanPublished about a year ago 3 min read

We ended the last episode with Jace and Rhaenyra planning to get unclaimed dragons riders to turn this war in her favor. Alicent finally realized that she’s a dumb cunt who picked the wrong side. And Aemond is ruling in his brother's sted. We are almost all the way through this second season, there being only 8 episodes this season and they are really dragging this out as long as humanly possible. So let’s get into it.

Aemond is loving the being in charge, he immediately starts barking orders that are born out of ego more than anything else. Now don’t get me wrong he is smart, and he does seem to have a head for war but it's all triggered by him wanting control. Aemond dismissing his mother from the small council has got to be the single most satisfying scene in this entire show. Alicent is finally getting what she deserves, dismissed and cast aside. She chose to align herself with misogyny and she is now feeling the impact of that unbelievably stupid, dumbass decision.

I love that Corlys has accepted the role of Rhaenyra’s hand. She needed his support and he is the smartest and most capable person for the job. Rhae’s plan really only makes her people more loyal to her. In this world, at this time to be a dragon rider is an honor and a privilege. So to be asked to claim, or attempt to claim a dragon by your queen is a very big deal.

Daemon is losing his shit at Harrenhal. All this storyline does is show what a good actor Matt Smith is. Because it serves no other purpose to the story and quite frankly does nothing but continue to destroy Daemon’s character.

Rhaenyra and Myseria also make a really good team. My Rhae has surrounded herself with advisors that bring a good perspective and are smart about how to go about this war. And they all do so in different ways. Corlys is formal, traditional. Jace likes to get his hands dirty talking to houses and getting them to declare for his mother. And Myseria is working the small folk, an extremely brilliant angle.

Aegon is awake and recovering which, of course, angers Aemond. But he is very subtle about his betrayal.

Rhaena discovers that there is a dragon in the vale, she very obviously still dreams of being a dragon rider like her sister and her parents.

Alyn seems very against the fact that he is Valyrian. But Corlys is promoting him, giving him status and power.

Rhaenyra and Myseria arranged to have food sent to the smallfolk of king’s landing and that is the most brilliant, strategic move anyone has made all series. Fucking genius seriously. Now obviously I feel bad for my sweet Heleana but Alicent deserves every bit of this. Attacked and chased through the streets is what happens when you starve your people.

Apparently we are summoning Otto again, I really hate that. I was so happy when he left, we better not be getting him back I will scream.

Seasmoke fully choosing Adam is both hilarious and adorable. He really said, “I want this one”.

Rhaenyra and Myseria is great and all, but again unnecessary. I think they actually have great chemistry and are super cute together but this just isn't the time for this. There is shit to do, I am so sorry but we have no time for romance that is going to end in dragonfire.

Long live Queen Rhaenyra bitches. She was handling business this episode and I love that for her. She has finally commanded the respect of her council and she is making movies with the help of them that is putting her in a really great position. I’m kind of over the Daemon at Harrenhal stuff so it's really time that they wrap that shit up.
