Greg Vaughan shares his emotions on filming farewell scenes for John Black on Days of Our Lives
The cast got through it by remembering the good times?

Eric says goodbye to John
Days of Our Lives fans were disappointed when Greg Vaughan's character Eric Brady left Salem with Nicole Walker Dimera (Ari Zucker) and their baby, Jude. On Friday, May 30, Eric returned to say farewell to his stepfather, John Black (Drake Hogestyn). Soap Opera Digest reports the actor said his scenes were "very, very touching.”
In an interview with TV Insider, Vaughan said, “It was a very hard day for everybody, obviously, and bringing Eric back was very sweet, but I wish it was under better circumstances.”
Hogestyn passed away from pancreatic cancer on Septemeber 28, 2024. Days of Our Lives tapes eight months in advance and is only now bringing his character's death to the screen. John Black had been off screen for eght months before his portrayer passed away.

Is there trouble in paradise?
On Friday, Eric had an encounter in Salem Square with EJ Dimera (Dan Feuerriegel) that has fans wondering about his status with Nicole. EJ asked if hsi ex-wife and baby Jude had returned with him. When Eric said "No" EJ asked if there was trouble in paradise. Eric replied he was not going to get into ti right now because he was heading to the hospital to see John.
IWas Eric only distressed because the man who helped raise him is dying, or are there problems in his love life? f Eric and Nicole are having problems, this may be a sign that Vaughan's character is heading back to Salem. Some fans thought that after some time had passed the role of Nicole might be recast.
Ari Zucker's role in Vaughan's disappearance
Nicole was written out of the Peacock soap after Zucker refused to work on a recurring basis. She later filed a lawsuit against former Co-executive producer Albert Alarr.
Zucker claimed Alarr subjected her to "sexually harassing comments and nonconsensual physical touching of a sexual nature."
The complaint alleges that Alarr would routinely pull Zucker tight to his chest while making sexual moans and "forcefully" touch her without her consent during dry blocking of scenes.
The former EP is said to have enjoyed filming sex scenes that were aggressive and threesomes. Several other actresses left Days of Our Lives at the same time like Camilla Banus (Gabi Hernanez).

Days produces soft porn
During Alar's time on the show many fans said DOOL was producing soft porn. He seemed to have a fixation on Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart and Dimitri von Leucschner (Peter Porte). They wer in many scenes and most of them were in the bedroom.
After Alarr was fired, Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) stated that he hoped Days of Our Lives would return to family programming. It's unclear why Executive Prouccer Ken Corday allowed the situation to escalate on the series his parents Curt and Betty Corday created. Some viewers said Betty and Curt were probably turning in their graves and what their series had become.

Greg Vaughan loved Drake Hogysten
Vaughan said he and Hogysten had an instant connection and he thought of him as a father figure. He said to get through the sceens he carried a lot of the memories they shared together and the conversations they had. He said the cast had a lot of laughs and wouldhis television dad would have wanted it that way. “So, we kind of reflected a lot on that as the day and the week went forward, with the unfortunate prognosis of Drake’s situation.”
“There’s not enough time in the day to tell you all the great things about Drake Hogestyn,” “He had a quiet leadership. He prioritized his family and life outside of work, but when he came in, he was always geared up to contribute. I cherish the conversations and the stories we had, and we exchanged text messages up to the very end.
