'General Hospital' rumors suggest Laura Wright or Kelly Monaco may be out

As you read please keep in mind that nothing has been validated regarding who is walking away from the ABC soap. This article addressed the two actresses who have been named and the reasons they may have for leaving.

Spoilers report a blind item

The current situation with GENERAL HOSPITAL pertains to a blind item that says a prominent actress on the show is leaving. A blind item is a news story, that back in the day would be found in a gossip column. It would reveal details of a true situation while keeping the identities of the parties involved under wraps. An example might be: Beautiful blonde actress was seen leaving night spot with a handsome dar- haired actor and they got in his red sports car. This leaves the public to fill in the blanks and that is what the rumor mill and spoilers are doing in this case. There are two links where you can read for yourself what is actually being reported.

The gist of it is that a high-profile actress is allegedly leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL and has her agents looking for work on other television shows. The rumor mill has determined that it must be either Kelly Monaco or Laura Wright. It could be 0ne of these women or neither and time will tell. In the meantime, the Internet is abuzz with compelling reasons why one of these long time soap stars might be the one who is walking away from Port Charles.

Laura Wright and Wes Ramsey

Laura Wright recently spoke about 3o years on soaps and 20 of those on GENERAL HOSPITAL. She said nothing about leaving the ABC soap but some suspect she will because her boyfriend of 4 years Wes Ramsey who portrayed Peter August is gone. Anyone who has been in this business for 3 decades certainly understands the ins and outs of daytime drama. Just because Wright has been portraying Carly Corinthos in Port Charles for 2 decades does not indicate that her significant other would remain on the show.

That's not to say that as Peter August was taking his down hill plunge and the handwriting was on the wall that the couple did not discuss the situation and make a decision on what Laura would do once Wes was out. One never knows what anyone else is thinking but most GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers do not believe Laura Wright is leaving. Neither she nor Ramsey has spoken publicly about his being let go with 5 months left on his contract.

Until recently a lot of GH fans believed he might be alive and resurface at a later date and his body could still disappear from the basement of the hospital. News reports however have confirmed that Ramsey is out and fans of Laura Wright will have to sit tight and wait to see what she does. Viewers need to keep in mind that there could be a different actress on the ABC soap who is leaving that is not Wright or Kelly Monaco. Regarding the two women, there are more viewers who believe it might be Sam McCall's portrayer who is walking out and there are several reasons why.

Kelly Monaco and Steve Burton

Kelly Monaco has been portraying Sam McCall Morgan on GENERAL HOSPITAL since 2003 and in recent years there has been a lot of controversy with the talented actress. Monaco was very outspoken regarding the fact that she preferred her character with Drew Cain and not Jason Morgan. She did not like the fact that when Steve Burton returned, Miller's character became Jason's twin Drew. When Billy Miller was fired and Drew presumed dead the actress aired her complaints on social media and said she had some information that would be coming that detailed how Miller was mistreated by ABC exects.

Monaco never followed up or gave any explanation and life went on but this brings up another question. Many JaSam fans have been angry that Sam walked away from Jason and he is now connecting with Britt. Since Kelly Monaco did not like her character with Jason could this be the reason the powers that be broke them up in the first place and they rarely have any on-screen contact? Questions like these come up when viewers don't get straight answers and right now GENERAL HOSPITAL fans have lots of questions.

Cyberbullying

At one point Kelly Monaco was cyberbullied by fans of GENERAL HOSPITAL who disagreed with her character's actions. Next came Twitter followers who trashed the actress because she shared a photo where she had just gotten out of bed, was wearing night clothing, and had not combed her hair. On at least 2 occasions Kelly addressed the disgruntled fans and explained that she was an actress playing a part and also saying that she was not all made up 24 /7 and was human. It must be exhausting to work hard all day and then read a lot of negativity towards yourself and or your character.

When GENERAL HOSPITAL returned to taping after COVID, Monaco was sent home to rest for 14 days. This led to speculation that she had tested positive for the coronavirus. Her mother went on Twitter and explained that Kelly has claustrophobia and taping under the bright lights while wearing a mask caused her to pass out. At the same time, a story broke that two cast members of the ABC daytime drama had indeed tested positive for COVID and this had the Internet filled with people saying they suspected Kelly was one of them. Monaco then went on Instagram to assure her followers that she was not sick but resting.

Billy Miller

Kelly Monaco has also been vocal about her friendship with Billy Miller and if she is the actress that is leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL, the connection with Miller might be the reason. It has recently been reported by spoilers that Cameron Mathison will be showing up in Port Charles as Drew Cain. If this is true, you can imagine how hurt Monaco must be that her good friend was fired and now his role is being recast.

Please keep in mind that all of this is speculation and nothing has been confirmed. When you read it all in print, however, there are compelling reasons for Kelly Monaco to simply have had enough and walk away. If she is the actress in the blind item it would make sense but if it is Laura Wright there does not seem to be a good reason to leave the ABC soap.
