General Hospital: Carly might cash in her rain check with Drew
Friday's episode might be a preview of things tocome.

General Hospital fans don't like the changes
General Hospital fans overwhelmingly said they did not want to see Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) but the writers went there anyway. Benard gave several interviews where he said he enjoyed his character being stretched and doing something new but the majority of viewers did not agree. Now it looks like the writers are about to have Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Drew Cain (Cameron Matthison take their friendship to the next level.
There was a time Carly would have jumped in bed with Drew and rubbed it in Sonny's face but she seems to have matured and is not rushing into anything. On Friday Drew suggested they skinny dip in the Metro Court pool but she declined and said "raincheck". Drew has made the first move and let Mrs. Corinthso know that he is interested in more than being just friends but she is the one holding out.
Carly shared with Drew that things are finally over with Sonny because he is no longer the man he was prior to Nixon Falls. She is still deeply hurt because in her opinion he sided with Nina over Michael Corintho0s (Chad Duel) in court. Carly said her ex is not the man she has known for several decades but she stopped short of getting in the pool with Drew.
Fans might consider getting on board with the storylines
The writers may take their time with this relationship because of the backlash over Sonny and Nina but in time Carly might just cash in her raincheck. In the meantime, Nina and Sonny have already been to bed together but now are putting the brakes on and taking things slow. No one expects either relationship to go the distance and some fans hope Carlson will find their way back to one another.
It's possible down the road but it appears the writers are making things final and breaking the connection between Sonny and Carly. Fans may have to wait a bit to find out what will happen between Drew and his twin's best friend because Matthison will be off-screen for a while. He will be filming a Hallmark Christmas movie in Canada and since this was planned in advance his character more than likely will not be recast.
Benard has asked General Hospital fans to consider just getting on board and riding the wave of the changes on the soap and see where things end up. Very rarely do daytime dramas keep favorite couples together these days as in decades past. There was a time when popular on-screen spouses weathered the storms and became stronger in spite of difficulties. Today every paring on GH seems to be filled with trouble.
Carly will sabotage her connection to Drew
The only couples who are not currently having difficulties are Mac and Felicia Scorpio (John J York and Kristina Wagoner) and Kevin and Laura Collins (Jon Lindstrom and Genie Francis). Many viewers believed Carlson had what it takes to go the distance but found out they were mistaken.
The writers could allow Carly to string Drew along and keep things in the friend zone or she might give him a chance at romance. Either way when the news comes out that she knew Willow Tate (Katelyn MacMullen) is Nina's daughter and kept quiet it will cause problems because she lied to Drew.
Whether or not she cashes in her raincheck and makes Drew her lover or she keeps him as a friend Carly will Sabotage the relationship. Be on the lookout for updates to this storyline related to what happens next. Are Carson really over and does Drew even stand a chance? Is it possible Nina and Sonny could work out or is it only a matter of time before they end? If Friday's episode is any indication of the future angry fans might want to brace themselves.

Cameron Mathison completed work on his Christmas movie weeks ago and already returned to the GH set. He was only gone for two weeks and we may not even notice his absence onscreen due to block taping.
