Why was Daniel Goddard not rehired by Y&R?

The Young and the Restless fans who suspected that Aristotle Dumas (Billy Flynn) was Cane Ashby were correct. The question now, which may never be answered, is why CBS did not bring back Daniel Goddard, who was a fan favorite. Flynn left a popular role as Chad Dimera on Days of Our Lives and can currently be seen on both shows.

He said he desired a change, so he jumped at the chance to appear on the CBS soap. Chad did not have a front-burner storyline but remained active and on screen on DOOL. There is no news at this time about how he will exit. Some fans believed he would fall to his death when jumping from an airplane with a parachute, but he only hurt his foot. Viewers still don't know if he will die, leave Salem, or be recast.

Where is Sam?

Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) freaked out to find that her ex-husband is the mysterious billionaire. Cane left Genoa City in shame, and Y&R fans say Goddard should have been brought back so viewers could see his character's change in fortune.

There were never any stories reported of Goddard being difficult, but the CBS soap treated him badly. Fans watched as the storyline dictated his downfall and subsequent exit. Cane cheated and had a son with his one-night stand with Juliet Helton (Laur Allen) after drinking sake.

This was out of character for Cane, and ended his relationship with Lily after she went to jail when Khalil decided to go on recurring status. Cane and Lily divorced, their twins Mattie and Charlie went to college, and their beautiful house was sold. The Young and the Restless attempted to set up a romance between Cane and Tracy Abbott (Beth Maitland), but viewers were not on board.

He left town with his young son Sam, to search for his father, Colin Atkinson ( Tristan Rogers). Sam has not yet been mentioned since Flynn took over, but fans who remember the boy wonder where he is. Goddard posted on social media for years that he would love to return to Genoa City, but he is now in a temporary role on General Hospital as Professor Henry Dalton, who appears to be up to no good.

Emme Rylan was disappointed at Lulu being recast

General Hospital fired Emme Rylan and recast her role of Lulu Spencer with Alexa Havens Bruening. Like Goddard, she was a fan favorite and GH viewers were hoping she would return rather than Lulu being recast.

What goes through the minds of soap execs when they go against the wishes of the viewers who keep their shows on the air? Flynn is an excellent actor and is working out as Aristotle. It's unclear how he would have fit if he arrived only as Cane. he has not spoken out about being recast, but Rylan said she was disappointed at not being called back as Lulu.

Will Cane and Professor Dalton stick around?

How long Goddard will portray Dalton and whether Flynn will remain as Cane/Dumas is not known. Fans now wonder if there will be a Lane reunion down the road. Lily is angry because Cane never told her he was Aristotle when they discussed their children. It will take a while before she calms down.
