The last episode ended with the fight between Jordan and Marie. We find out through the fight that Cypher’s powers are the ability to jump his consciousness into someone else's body. Though there is still something fishy about that. Marie almost kills Jordan and Cate is completely screwed without her powers.
Sage, the genius girl from The Boys works with Cypher or for Cypher, that part is unclear but they are definitely sleeping together. And there is this weird eye contact between Cypher and the nearly dead guy, so that’s weird. Not just the graphicness and weirdness we expect from The Boys franchise but there is clearly a connection there.
Cate gets sent to Elmira as punishment for trying to expose the Dean as human. Which he might be but we still don’t have an explanation for why he doesn’t have any compound V in his system.
Sam goes to see his parents. He is clearly harboring a lot of resentment here because he was held captive and tormented for so long.
Marie wants to go save Cate, Jordan and Emma aren’t loving the idea but they begrudgingly go along with it. And they try to recruit Sam because they need some more muscle.
Swoopy hair golden boy gives Emma a very awkward and adorable goodbye.
Polarity has a meeting with the dean and damn Cypher is such a good villain. He’s got the strength and power of Homelander but he is way more psychological and therefore way more compelling. Smart villains are always the best.
Hopefully Sam’s parents, or at least dad realizes that Vought is a bunch of liars.
Emma was right, they did in fact walk right into a trap and all 3 of them got captured again. I feel like at this point we should have some more common sense then this.
Cypher and Sage are intentionally trying to unlock Marie’s powers so that she can defeat Homelander and they can take over Vought to run as they see fit. It's not a bad master plan, as big bads go they are pretty good. Because in this context they are absolutely still the villains but in the greater world of The Boys, anyone trying to take down Homelander is definitely a hero. I love the layer that’s added with some in between characters. We are so used to Homelander and then anyone that contrasts him, most of The Boys crew are absolutely morally grey people but in the context of the story they are clearly on the correct side. Cypher and Sage however aren’t necessarily taking down Homelander for the greater good.
Sam finds out that his brain was broken before the compound V, his mental health issues weren’t caused by him becoming a supe, they most certainly exacerbated it but he was already struggling with violence and delusions before. The parents were hoping that the compound V would heal him. That’s so sad and I really wish we got to see more of that.
Marie finally gets to see her sister, but definitely not in the context she wanted. They are gonna kep her sister in prison and torture her unless Marie does what Cypher wants.
Cate’s powers being on the fritz leads to a security guard stabbing his own eye out with a key but does lead to the girls getting out and saving the others, when they try to go save annabeth, they find that her throat has been slit and Marie tries to get her sister back but as she closes the wound she fucks with everyone else’s heads.
I’m really loving the pace this season, the writing is so crazy good. And it's making me so excited for next season of The Boys, because last season was a little lackluster.
